Thank God I didn't pay to see it. I used the magic of the internet. *shhhh*

I'll let the tags for the community wtf_tla sum it up, as they do it best:
"They DIDN'T dig it?", aang ain't white, aang can stay asian, agni keys, ambiguous cultures, animals with human faces, anything else is better, appa giving you nightmares, bad 3-d effects, bad actors, bad ( Read more... )

I'm unsure what your reaction would be to the movie without seeing the cartoon. ;) You would probably like it a whole lot more then someone who had watched the cartoon. I tend to do that too most of the time; watch a movie based off of something before reading or watching the original. So I say go for it. :D I'm a HUGE Avatard though, so a lot of things bothered me avout this film. Lol. The thing I can't figure is; I'm not generally picky about movie adaptions... I liked the Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, and Twilight renditions when they appeared in movie form.

I think what bothered me most, aside from the horrible dialog and bad direction, was the fact that M Night didn't seem to want to stay true to the original source material. He wanted to make this movie his own, and you just can't do that with something that has such a huge fan base.

If you get a chance, after you see the movie, check out the cartoon. You have to watch it in order but it's really fun and NOTHING like the movie. :D

Yeah... my older sis, Emma and I wouldn't go see it with my younger sis, Hilary. Aside from the bad feelings from listening to the race-bending debate, my other thought was "two hours to sum up an entire season? Well? Not possible." All the humor and fun bits would logically be lost; not even Joss Whedon couldn't cram humor into the short space allotted for his Firefly wrap-up movie. Seasons adapted to movies are like jerky montages :/

Hilly got back, and said "I wasted my time and money" :P Glad you kept yours ;D

Yeah, I am completely unfamiliar with the anime/cartoon series, so the movie looks cool to me (but I haven't seen it yet).

At first I HATED the movie for changing so many things. (This was before it was even released) But as the release date approached I began to have some hopeful optimism that something good might come from it. If nothing else maybe some awesome fight scenes and great special effects. Sadly, M Night can't direct action scenes. He should stick to what he knows he can do and direct thrillers. Hey, I'm not trying to knock it for anyone else. Maybe you'll like it never having seen the cartoon. :D I hope you do! *thumbs up* I'm just saying what my experience was. I've heard from a lot of people, who haven't seen the series, who said they liked the movie... so I say go for it! <3 *hugs*

I'll let you know what I think either way if I get around to seeing it. :)
