oh man, i gotta see this movie. jacques demy must've said something to the wardrobe department like "i want this scene to be like a filmed version of the best candy store in the universe." have you seen umbrellas of cherbourg? it's the only one i've seen by him, but its amanzingly majestic.

My caps don't do justice to the hyper-saturated technicolor look to the film at all. The scene with the sisters is way tame in comparison. It's really visually....stimulating. Plus, it's ULTRA-'60's.......like, even the carnie guys wear go-go boots. Yeah. I know

I totally forgot this is your livejournal name. I probably came off like such a fucking wad in that last comment I posted back to you, like Suzy Cinema or something.
I do mean it, though, the parts I saw just seemed so flat because they sang EVERYTHING. It's like, where's the overflowing of emotion? Where are the great song and dance numbers adding colorful HIGHLIGHTS to the story? I'm sure I just need to watch more, but I apologize for such a fucking pretentious-sounding post. Yuck.
