English food trip

As promised to sevenswells long time ago, this is a report on English food. ♥

In July we went to Brighton. The trip itself nearly ended as a food report as most of the photos we brought back were food photos.... Well yeah.
In France it's said English food is bad. I can't start to understand why there is such an idea spread. All I ate other there was really nice. :/

Let's start with our first meal, in a pub, classic fish and chips, but I wanted to try it.

(I've come to England once while in high school, I know I've eaten fish and chips with the family we stayed at back then, but I can't remember it at all. While in Brighton I remembered I came here during the high school trip too but I forgot that too... I just remembered while seeing the Brighton Pier... Strange my mind forgot all this...)

fuefuki-san tried chicken and ale pie, and it was absolutely fabulous.

For dessert we had cupcakes at Angel Food Bakery.

Very tasty, but too much fat for me, especially after lunch... xD Butter cream ftw!

During the evening, I was really ill, I caught a cold because of the awful weather (in July yes, terrific summer we had this year.), so we ended eating at McDonald's, but we tasted things we didn't have in France, such as their Apple Pie. Oh my, that was nice (and hot \o/), with a touch of cinnamon. ♥

The next morning, we had traditional breakfast but I have no photos because I forgot the camera in the bedroom. ^^;
But it's almost the same sevenswells had : see her journal ♥
Minus mushrooms, plus cereals and toasts. ^o^
As for me, who aren't used to eat on breakfasts, and especially not salty things, I ate everything, and found it very good. I'd like to eat another one! xD

As we had had a gigantic breakfast, we didn't eat lunch.
We waited 5pm to have a high tea. \o/
Here : The Tea Cosy
I vividly recommends it. *.* Leaving aside the completely kitsch interior design honoring the Royal Family in every way possible, all the food here is... unforgettable. And you know they bake everything themselves. It's obvious. xD

Cucumber, Salmon, cheese and chutney sandwitches.

Oh my, and this tableware... I wanted to steal it. I want the same cups in my house NOW. >.<

Victoria Sponge cake. I think dear Queen Victoria was the Devil himself, for having created such a thing. >o<
Cream and strawberry jam inside. *dies*

The unavoidable scones. ♥
With jam and cream, of course.

To end all of this, we bought Cornish pastries to eat in the boat. It's also really awesome and it makes me think of the pastry we have in my region and that I love so much, le pâté lorrain. :D

The only thing that was not good at all were the industrial doughnuts I bought at Krispy Kream. Sorry for the bad press but I've never eaten something this awful. ^^; Lemon Meringue pie and Mango cheesecake? What the fuck? It just tasted like oil, a lot of sugar and perhaps gazoline.
The saddest part... the doughnuts are the last thing we ate. ^^;;;;
