I received a new spreadsheet this morning, and this was the first address in the list:

> Boss Hogg Rd, Morgantown, KY

Seriously?Even more disturbing, I found a Boss Hog Rd in Kentucky (one G), ( Read more... )

We obviously can't leave out MacGyver Rd (it's not actually paved, but you can improvise). It eventually links back to O'Neill St, but that's outside of that subdivision.

That's awesome.

Being in the shipping business, we've come across some funny addresses too. I think the most memorable street I've ever seen was Tater Peeler Road. And yeah, it was southern - TN.

Some addresses overseas are funny too - just in how long and detailed they are. It's more like directions on how to get there than an address as we write them. One of them had a traditional address but also included something like "in the alley, behind the drug store", ha!

Before our Postal Service standardized addresses and found a good way to communicate the rules, US mail was much the same way. You wrote directions on the envelope, or you just addressed it to a town and hoped the local postmaster knew that person and where they lived.

There's a good Mark Twain anecdote, in his autobiography, about the addresses written on mail he received. Here's what was written on the envelopes of three pieces of fan mail:

Mark Twain,
Somewhere.

Mark Twain,
God knows where.

Mark Twain,
Somewhere,
(Try Satan).

I remember seeing a road name once that was called "Bloody Gulch Road."

Naturally, since my favorite anime character displays a fondness for, um, certain substances, this amused me to no end. XD
