Question for you: I need to fill out my FAFSA too, as I plan to start school this fall. I'm currently working fulltime but won't be working when school starts. When I fill out all the info, it will be my current info, right? And they'll think I have more money than I really do...? or is there some way to say that you won't be working and you'll have no money when school starts? I hope that made sense. so, yes. it makes perfect sense. ah, fafsas are so fun.
you have to use your tax info from the previous year, so from 2006, even if you won't be working in 2007. but what you would have to do then is fill out the fafsa based on what you made last year, and then tell the financial aid person at the school you're going to attend that you won't be working because you'll be working full time. but if you're independent and you make under, say, $14000 a year, you probably will have a pretty low "expected family contribution", like i had an EFC of $7 last year. and this year, because i hardly worked in the last 12 months, my EFC is $0. i didn't know they changed the age either for becoming independent because i'm not supposed to be considered independent until i'm 24, which i won't be until december. lucky me.
right, and i assume you understood when i made that mistake and said "tell them you won't be working because you'll be working full time" thati really meant "tell them you won't be working because you'll be in school full time". that's all.
