it seems everyone lives their life for other people, they dream about suicide but never attempt it because of other people, not because they are afraid of death but they are afraid of the continuation of time in this reality, there is no way to understand death and nothingness when you have only experience live and tangible activity, the same as ( Read more... )

it is true that for the majority of people our life is given "meaning" or at least a glimpse of definition through anothers existence... however to the extent at which you suggest i think it depends on the person... i have thought of killing myself and at that dire moment it wasn´t others that kept me going, it was my hope in the satisfaction i have occasionally found in pure existence.... in fact my constant dissapointment in never truly feeling connected to other people is a pivotal source of my deep moments of despair, which i guess would actually complement your theory,since it gives the lack of other the definition of depair, however, for me at least i think it is more this idea of other or that another could satisfy enough to validate a meaning to life that drives people mad... i am not convinced that that many people are holding on because of one person, however, if we have a huge person in our life who we consider in many decisions such as say suicide, moving,etc. then they give us a purpose, a path.... i think the purposes or ( ... )
