"Marriage brings happiness, love, and hope for the future."

LOL

Tell that to the 41% of married couples who will end their marriage in divorce.

The implication that a ring and an expensive wedding reception will immediately make people live happily ever after in peace and harmony has become a joke.

ohh boy-My mother is lesbian, so are two of my uncles and some of my friends. The unacceptance of homosexuality is religious-religion has no right to be mucking up our government. Marriage is not taken seriously by a lot of people-look at the drive thru ceremonies in Vegas. Jason thinks marriage ceremonies are ridiculous no matter how you look at it because it is based on a Christian tradition and those of us who are atheists aren't left with many options(besides justice of the peace). We only married because it was easier when you have children to be married. What is it that God supposedly says "Judge not lest ye be judged?" Why don't we let homosexuals get married and just worry about our own marriages and relationships. Then after you die maybe you can tattle to God or whatever. I swear, Americans are such prude close minded fu** tards sometimes. Sorry about the strong opinions, they've been there a while and sometimes they come out.

In other words- I totally agree with you.

I don't much believe in marriage anyway. I was raised in a family where both of my parents went through several spouses. This has lead me to believe that, if they were truly doing it for love, then the love was temporary to one or both parties in each of those marriages ( ... )

Can you please show me where marriage is a basic right?

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with you. My opinion on this has dulled because I really don't care anymore. Quite frankly, I don't see why people assume marriage automatically makes people happy. What is the difference between a loving married couple and a loving unmarried couple? A ring, a wedding cake and a tape of you doing the twist.

All I know is that I'm not willing to risk my happiness on a coin flip.

The "marriage is a basic right" comes from your personal beliefs. Or, if you want to get technical, governmental doctrine. The whole "free country" argument.

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Can't people just let it alone and try to stop their tunnel vision?

I am all over this.

The "Vote Yes" commercials make my blood boil for various reason, not the least of which the message is purely "WE HAVE TO PROTECT MARRIAGE" in circular fashion.

There's an icon I see around. "Blame heterosexuals - they're the ones who keep having gay babies."
