I agree w/you on the whole pets thing. Generally speaking, I'd probably rather spend my time w/a dog or some other pet than most other people...heck, I passed a car the other day that had a cute, fluffy dog in it and I thought I was going to cry (I miss my dog so much...)

On an unrelated note, thanks so much for the card! It made me smile =)

oprah did a show on location down there, and the most upsetting segment was about dogs. i actually cried. people had escaped to a highway waited for a few days for a bus to come get them - some of them had managed to save their dogs, but when the bus came, they weren't allowed to bring the dogs with them. there was a shot of one man who wouldn't leave and just cried and cried hugging his dog.

i bet a lot of those people didn't choose to leave the dogs behind, but like jess said, most shelters and things probably wouldn't take them.

too bad about OG, but hey, at least it can be thanksgiving every day!
