I heart our polling place:

--No lines;
--Seven or eight little wooden cubbies with pencils in them;
--Paper ballots that you mark with an "X";
--Friendly senior citizens who check you against the registration lists with a smile;
AND
--An old-fashioned, hand-cranked wooden ballot box.

Yay, small-town America!

small town, polls

To be fair, there probably were short lines around lunch time.

And the box went "Ding!" Which I love. And a little odometer-type counter. I was voter number 669 on that box, apparently.

I love the "ding," too.

Darn! I forgot to check my number as they ran my ballot through!

You were probably 670, considering.
