It's lengthy, but if you are interested and do not know here is some info. Trust me this is not all there is to know either.

What is the difference between DVD-R/DVD-RW, DVD+R/DVD+RW and
DVD-RAM discs?

Rock. Thank you for this. :) I still want to know how you manage to fit 4.7gb on your 4.7 discs. Are you burning authoring DVD-Rs? My burner is a DVR-104.

i use DVD+R's - Just a general Home Video and Data Recording disc. I have a second generation burner....which is the only type that should be out for retail now. the dvd-r's are more compatible with the players though...but i personally have never had a problem...and have always used them...so until I have a problem...i won't stop with the plus...a few people here and there who have older dvd players can't play them though...but that doesnt effect me...heheheehe ( ... )

I don't think it's the software, I don't have to have any software running, I just open the blank disc on my desktop, and the folder/window thingie says '0 items, 4.28 GB available.' The only difference from when I used to be able to burn 4.35 GB movies (*sniff* the good old days) is the brand of disc.

Could I come over and show you my disc sometime and maybe you could show me what I'm doing wrong...?
