Secret Desires

“I want to share my deepest, darkest secrets with a warm body, one who really knows me - not a computer screen.” skyedragon66A writer that I admire wrote those words. I was touched by them; as they reached out and slapped me right out of my daze. Do we not all have the desire to share our deepest, darkest secrets with someone we know well? My introduction to the wonderful world of web-friends was 1989, bbs chatting and such. Over the years I have met hundreds of fabulous people in person because of it - have met my fair of un-worthy ones as well. Had relationships, got married, have kids - because of the internet, the boxes that has housed the circuitry to reach out to these people have changed numerous times throughout the years but the actions are the same. I find my friends - I reach out, I make friends in real life because of it.

I agree with you - it does assist in learning about peoples behaviors and sometimes be able to figure out the falsities so as not waste your time. But you can also find loyalties and friendships you never would have - from all over the world. It's wonderful.

Yes... yes, holding a warm body and feeling the emotions... much much better.

but you have to start somewhere.

*hugs you*

I been blessed with some of the most wonderful friends who just like you stepped through that "glass door". My story is much the same as yours, because of the gift of internet I have lived a different life, one that included people who I perhaps would never have met otherwise. I consider myself lucky.

Are you here in town this weekend? DragonCon would not be the same without the Marian.

"hugs you back"

sadly not at DragonCon this year - but I do plan on coming to Atlanta soon to visit friends and you would certainly be one of them if you had time :)
