Title:  Alex, Chapter 7
Pairing:  Nichkhun/Wooyoung
Rating:  R
Summary:  Nichkhun and Wooyoung love the same boy.
A/N:  I know most of you are Wooyoung-biased so I hope my stories don't make you hate me... cause I love Wooyoung too, he's my baby's man. lol.  Here comes the drama, be forewarned.  Enjoy! xoxo MIYAheartsKHUNHEARTSWOO :)

Nichkhun watched helplessly as Wooyoung was led away.  What could he do?  He certainly had the passion to rip the arms off of each of those police officers but he knew nothing of that sort would come to any good in this situation.  He felt his knees get weak, and his eyes start to blur.  He turned around to walk back into the house and to his dismay, a frightened Alex stood at the door frame.  Nichkhun rushed to him.

“Where’s daddy Woo?”  Alex asked with tears in his eyes.

Nichkhun didn’t have the heart to tell him, instead picked up the boy in his arms and took him inside.  Alex clung onto him, afraid.  “Alex, everything is going to be okay.  Everything is going to be fine, buddy.  Daddy Woo is going to be gone for a little while, but I promise you I’ll do everything I can to get him back okay?”  Nichkhun said as he sat the boy on the sofa.

“Daddy, I’m scared.” Alex said hiding his face.  “I want Daddy Woo!”

“I know bud, I’m scared too, and Daddy Woo is scared.  But the best way we can help Daddy is if we’re strong.  So even if we’re scared, we’re going to be strong… Daddy Woo needs us to be strong.”  Nichkhun said to the boy but rather needed to hear those words himself.

Alex nodded.  “Strong for Daddy Woo, I’ll try.”  Alex bit his lip.  Nichkhun picked up the boy and placed him on his lap and the boy leaned back placing his head on Nichkhun’s chest.  Nichkhun was at lost, he had succeeded so much in life and had struggled through difficult situations, but when it came to the matters of the heart he always became weak, and much more when it related to the love of his life, he felt incredibly lost without Wooyoung, the same feeling he had four years ago.

Nichkhun was excited to come home, after a few days away he was excited to come home with news for Wooyoung.  He had been offered a position with the company and he was still a semester’s away from graduating, this was a rare feat that was only awarded to the most promising students and Nichkhun felt both proud and accomplished to have a job offer upon the completion of his degree.  He attempted to call Wooyoung from the train station but there was no pick up.  Nichkhun assumed that Wooyoung was probably studying at the library and wanted to surprise the other with a romantic dinner.

Nichkhun was near home when he saw a figure awaiting him on the front steps of the dorm.  Nichkhun felt a chill go up his spine realizing who it was, it had been five years since he  last saw his father and the last time he could recall he had made it clear he wanted nothing to with him.  The man looked at him awaiting Nichkhun to acknowledge him but Nichkhun just stared and tucked his hands into his pocket.

“You look like a real business man.”  His father said with a chuckle.

“What do you want?”  Nichkhun asked.

“I’m here to take care of some…business.”  His father said.  “I’ve heard about some of the possible opportunities…have you thought much of your future?”

“I’ve been working very hard to land on my feet, if that’s what you’re asking.”  Nichkhun answered.

“You know there’s always a position for you in my company…”  His father offered but Nichkhun stopped him.

“I’d rather do it on my own.  I seem to have been very good in doing that since you left.  Besides, you don’t owe me anything - I thought I made that very clear.”  Nichkhun answered.

“This has nothing to do with blood relation and everything to do with business.  I’ve seen your transcripts, they are very impressive.”  His father said.

“Regardless, I decline.”  Nichkhun said trying to walk past his estranged father.

“Why do you hate me so much?”  His father asked him.

“I don’t hate you, hating someone means you acknowledge their existence, you are a stranger to me.”  Nichkhun responded.  “I just got back from a trip, I’d like to get home if that’s okay with you…sir.”  Nichkhun said bitterly.

“To your boyfriend?”  The man said causing Nichkhun to turn around.

“What are you talking about?”

“Your boyfriend, the shy boy with the cheeks.”  His father answered.

“How do you know he’s my boyfriend?”  Nichkhun asked.

“You think just because I’m out of sight, that you are out of mind?”  His father smiled.  “I have been watching you, all of my children, I need someone to take over this company - to be bred into the type of leader it needs to become the global conglomerate I dreamed of it being.  Nichkhun, I’m a dying man.  I need you to take over.”  His father spoke.  Nichkhun was so sure he had hardened his heart  towards his father the day he left his mother, however hearing the words of his father made him shift in his stance a bit.

“Regardless.  I am not the son to inherit your spoils.”  Nichkhun said turning around.  “I hope to live a happy life, to be faithful to Wooyoung for the rest of my life, and if ever I have a son, I will be the example I want him to become in the same home.  I surely can forgive you for whatever you’ve done but to ask me to take over your company is far too much for me.  I’m sorry.”  Nichkhun said.

“I’m very disappointed that you’ve rejected my offer.  However, I can respect your decision.  I hope that one day you will be able to forgive me for all the trespasses I’ve done against you.”  His father said a bit threatening.

“That’s your problem.  You treat your life like one big business transaction.  My mother helped you build your company literally from dirt and ashes and when you decided that she was no longer able to maintain this image you wanted for yourself you traded her for someone who knows nothing about work ethic or loyalty or family or anything that matters - and with that you not only lost the faithfulness of a good woman but your own children.  I’m not your employee, I’m your son, goddamnit!  Your son!”  NIchkhun shouted.

“A son is nearly someone to carry on for you when you die.  Too bad…you’ll never know what that means.”  His father said then began to walk away.

Nichkhun was puzzled at that statement but watched him go, he certainly didn’t need to obsess over the past and he had left his father in the past.  Nichkhun needed to live in the present, for the future and he knew exactly what he wanted his future to be.  He rushed upstairs, his heart filled with excitement again to be reunited with Wooyoung.  He had spent the last few days really thinking about what he wanted and there was one thing for certain it was a life with Wooyoung.  He entered the door calling out for the other.

“Wooyoung, I’m home!”  Nichkhun said.  The air in their dorm seemed a bit stale even solitary.

“Woo!  Babe!”  Nichkhun called out.  He walked to Wooyoung’s bedroom and his eye shifted to the empty room.  Wooyoung’s belongings had been cleared out, no remnants of the boy whatsoever.  Nichkhun rushed to the closet, and surely enough all of his clothing and other belongings were gone.  He went over to his room which was perfectly intact.  He searched for a note, anything that would give him a clue, called over and over trying to reach the other, he was so confused to what was going on.  He even called Wooyoung’s friends all of whom hadn’t heard a word from Wooyoung and knew nothing about his disappearance.

Nichkhun waited every night for Wooyoung to return for a week and finally he had accepted that Wooyoung was not coming back.  He didn’t know where Wooyoung’s hometown is, he knew nothing about his family and even though he searched he couldn’t seem to find anything and he started to wonder maybe if Wooyoung was just a figment of his imagination, the creation of his heart for the one thing he longed for most - unconditional love.

Nichkhun was suddenly awoken by a knock at the door.  He looked down at the sleeping boy on his lap, Alex had cried himself to sleep, his head now resting on Nichkhun’s leg. He rested Alex’s head on a pillow and took the throw blanket placing it over the boy as he slept soundly.

Nichkhun went to answer the door and was surprised to see Alex’s teacher standing at the door.  “Miss IU is there something I can help you with?”  Nichkhun tried to stay calm.

“Well, I didn’t see Alex at school today, I was wondering if everything was okay?”  Miss IU said poking her head past Nichkhun.

“Yes, he’s resting - he hasn’t been feeling good today.”  Nichkhun said.

“Where’s Mr. Jang?”  IU asked.  “Why isn’t he home?”

“I…umm…Wooyoung will be out for a few days, so I’m taking care of Alex.” Nichkhun explained.  “Everything is fine.  Alex will be at school as soon as he feels better.”  Nichkhun said with a smile.

“I don’t believe you.”  Miss IU said upset.  “Something is wrong.”

“Nothing is wrong, nothing that concerns you.”  Nichkhun asserted.

“If it involves Alex, it concerns me.”  IU insisted.  “He’s my… student.”  She bit her lip.

“I don’t mean to be insensitive, but Alex needs time with his family - so please, leave before you wake him.”  Nichkhun said.  Miss IU glared at him and began to retreat then walked away.

Nichkhun sighed, he didn’t know how to deal with this.  Realizing how weak he was without Wooyoung.  His phone rang and he went to answer it.  “Hello?  Wooyoung?”  He asked worriedly.

“No, sir, this is Mr. Park, Mr. Jang’s attorney.  Are you Mr. Horvejkul?”

“Yes, this is.  Are you with Wooyoung?”  Nichkhun asked.

“Yes, he’s fine just a bit shaken.  He’d like to know how Alex is doing?”

“He’s fine.  He’s sleeping.”  Nichkhun answered.  “Is he really okay?  Can I talk to him?”  Nichkhun asked.

“I’m sorry Nichkhun, he doesn’t feel like speaking with you and because of the impending investigation I think it’s better if he doesn’t.”

“This has to be some sort of misunderstanding right?  How could Wooyoung have kidnapped Alex?  Alex is his son!”  Nichkhun said.

“Mr. Horvejkul, I’m sorry to tell you, Alex is not Wooyoung’s biological son.  It’s very complicated… Mr. Jang has requested to tell you himself- however, he has noted that he isn’t ready to tell you right now.”

“What? No!  Alex is his son, despite biological or not.  That boy loves him and I know Wooyoung would give anything in the world for Alex.  Please tell me this is just some mistake.”

“I’m sorry.  There is also one more point of information that I need to relay.  With the investigation ongoing, Alex will need to be turned over to Child Welfare Officers.”

“No!  Why?  I can take care of Alex!”  Nichkhun insisted.

“Mr. Horvejkul, I’m sorry, but that is not possible.  Wooyoung, already knows about this - there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop the authorities from taking him.”

“No! I won’t let it happen.  No one is ever going to take Alex from me…from us!   He is our son!”  Nichkhun shouted.

There was a pause of silence then suddenly Wooyoung’s voice came over the phone.

“Khun, I’m sorry to drag you into this…”

“Youngie, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.  But you need to turn Alex over… I promise I can explain everything… there is a reason to it all but for now please do as they advise.  It’s for the best.”  Wooyoung pleaded.

“Woo, no.  How could I let Alex go with strangers.  You’ve cared for him all his life, he’s your son.”

“But I did something really wrong Khun, please forgive me.”  Wooyoung’s voice shook with tears.

“Why would I need to forgive you?”  Nichkhun asked.

“Because there’s something I never told you.  Something that I’m afraid if I do tell you, you will hate me.”  Wooyoung cried.

“Just tell me, nothing could be more worse than losing you and Alex on the same day.”  Nichkhun couldn’t hold back his tears anymore.

“I can’t do it over the phone, tomorrow, come and see me… and I’ll tell you everything.  Khun, I’m so sorry… I really am.”  Wooyoung said and for the first time Nichkhun didn’t cry for Wooyoung or Alex but for once for himself.

The next morning two women from the Child Welfare Agency came to take Alex.

“Daddy, please don’t make me go.  I want to stay with you.”  The boy pleaded locking his arms around Nichkhun’s neck.

“I’m sorry Alex, but I need to go take care of Daddy Woo.  I promise I won’t let you stay with them for too long…I’ll come and get you as soon as I can.”  Nichkhun said tears in his eyes.

“You promise?”  Alex pulled away, his eyes red with tears.

“I promise son.  I’ll back to get you.”  Nichkhun said.

One of the women took Alex by the hand and before they had walked out of the door, Nichkhun shouted.  “I love you Alex.  Dad loves you.”

“I love you too, Daddy.”  Alex said before the door was closed on the empty house.  Nichkhun felt immediately weak, falling to his knees. Never had he felt so empty before, he could literally feel his heart shatter, he always thought he most heart breaking day in his life was when he lost his father, but now he knew it was the day he lost his son.

Nichkhun went to the holding cells where Wooyoung was awaiting his court date.  The place felt gray and cold, nowhere he wished Wooyoung to be.  He clutched the extra coat he had brought for Wooyoung, worried that he might be cold in this lonely building, one of Alex’s stuffed animals hidden in the pockets. He was brought to a room, where a guard kept watch and Wooyoung came out to join him.  The urge to hug the other was so unbearable but by the look on the guards face he knew it was not wise.

“Are you okay?”  Nichkhun asked.

“Yeah, just cold.”  Wooyoung said.

Nichkhun handed him the coat.  “I thought you would be.  I brought you this.”

“Thanks.  How’s Alex?”

“The Child Welfare officers took him this morning…”  Nichkhun began to sob.  “It was the hardest thing to do, Woo… how can I go one day without him?”  Nichkhun cried.

“You can get him back tonight.”  Wooyoung said.

“How?  The only people they will release him to is his biological parents.  Woo… who’s son is he?”  Nichkhun asked.

“Khun…he’s your son.  Alex is yours.”  Wooyoung looked him in the eyes.

“What?  How?”  Nichkhun asked.

“The day you left, a girl, named Suzy came to the apartment… she was ready to pop and so afraid that she had come to you.  Apparently, you had a one night stand with her and she had conceived the baby.  She came looking for you but you were gone.  I swore at that moment that I stopped loving you, I felt so betrayed that you had slept with someone else but she went into labor that night and before I could even think about it - she had given birth.”  Wooyoung explained.

“Suzy?  I remember her.  So what happened?”  Nichkhun asked his eyes welled up in tears.

“She died.  Right after Alex was born, she stopped breathing.”  Wooyoung cried.  “I was so scared, the nurses thought I was the father so they placed Alex in my hands, and everything I thought I knew about this life had changed.  He was so small and helpless and at that moment he had no one else in the world but me.”  Wooyoung began to shake.

“So why didn’t you tell me?”  Nichkhun asked.

“Because…”  Wooyoung said. “I was so scared.  The next day the doctors insisted that we take  a paternity test… I knew I would fail because I wasn’t his father.  I asked one of the nurses what would happen if it was found that I wasn’t the boy’s father, they said that Alex was going to be placed in an orphanage.  I didn’t think correctly, I just did what I thought I needed to do, so I took Alex from the hospital and I ran.  I was so crazy in love with him, even though he wasn’t mine, because he was yours I felt like he was mine.”  Wooyoung sobbed.   “I’m sorry, I tried to tell you before, but everything was starting to turn out so good, I didn’t want to lose you… I didn’t want to lose Alex… please Khun forgive me.”  Wooyoung pleaded grabbing Nichkhun’s hands.

“Alex…is my son.”  Nichkhun said in realization.

“Khun… please?”  Wooyoung begged.

“I don’t know what to say to you Wooyoung.  I’m so grateful in a way, but my heart is still aching that you never told me.  I feel so betrayed.”  Nichkhun pulled his hand away.

“Khun… please understand.”  Wooyoung begged.

“I’m sorry Woo… I just need some time.”  Nichkhun said and stood up walking out.  Wooyoung hid his face in his hands, this is exactly what he was afraid of and exactly what he did not want.
