MIYAKO KITAGAWA

Nov 08, 2008 22:01

Name: Kitagawa, Miyako

Age: 16

Birthday: April 6th (Aries)

Grade Average: B-/C+

History:
Miyako grew up in a progressively rich, proper household, although it hasn't had much bearing on the way she acts at school. She doesn't make a huge deal about where she lives, her family's restaurant, or her family itself, in fact, she keeps her personal life hush-hush even to friends, only for the sake of privacy. Miyako's never found reason to flaunt her wealth (they're not millionaires, but they're way upper class) or how well she can cook noodles. She keeps those two worlds seperated.

Most of her spare time in her younger years was taken up solely by her parent's restaurant business. When she was younger [about 11] and the business was starting up, she and her sister were the restaurant's personal delivery girls, riding their bikes from house to house. [[IF YOU WANT TO HAVE MET HER THROUGH THAT WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER, THEN THAT'S AN OPTION - because otherwise she's only known everyone since she was 14...]] However, after the business grew, it axed the delivery service option in favor of expansion, which only brought in more customers and cash for the restaurant.

The Kitagawa Restaurant is well-known in the area for its fine, expensive food. It's a stylish, high-class Japanese restaurant that looks pretty drab by Miyako's standards, yet gets rave reviews by fine dining magazines. She works there from time to time with her mother and father, serving dishes out and washing tables. Like the other restaurant workers, Miyako wears traditional dress while on the job.

Speaking of traditional, her family upholds traditional values to the highest standard. Ladies are meant to be ladies and work is meant to be done without play in between. See why she doesn't like talking about her home life? Her house itself is alright, nothing too show-offy. Her parents put most of the money into the restaurant rather than the house; that's not to say that the house isn't huge, either.

Miyako actually transferred into the school district from a private school two years ago after her sister's death. [[IT WAS IN THE NEWSPAPERS, SO MOST PEOPLE PROBABLY WOULD BE AWARE OF HER SISTER'S DEATH - maybe]] No, she doesn't like talking about it. Don't ask. And why a random public school? Well, it was the closest school to the restaurant and she couldn't deal with going to her old school anymore. 'Nough said.

Appearance:
It's rare to find Miyako without a smile on her face, unless she's at her house or any other place where a more serious look is required. There's always a joke waiting in her eyes. She doesn't believe that she's hot or anything, but she would agree that she looks cute most of the time.

She likes trying different things with her hair, sometimes putting a little curl in it and other times leaving it and not really fussing around with it. It all depends on how she feels. Miyako's never really dyed her hair a whole lot, prefering it darker. As for her outfits, they're don't make her stand out very much - mainly due to her parents' wishes and not her own - but they do always work for her. Miyako breaks up the boredom in her dress style the only way she can and that's through colorful accessories she secretly buys.

Miyako loves wearing crazy!loud jewelery. It's how she sneaks herself into her clothing. Lately, though, she's been toning it down and wearing quiet, silver pieces or none at all, for whatever reason. Her eyes and hair are dark and she's about an inch or two under the average female height. She has a nice, thin frame, but, like every girl, she's not without problem areas like the stretch marks on her thighs (omg, shhh!).

Personality INCLUDING three strengths and weaknesses:
Happy, happy, smile, smile. She's very friendly and loves talking to everyone that she meets. Miyako gets hyper easily and if she gets too excited, she doesn't really have an off-switch. She'll just spit joke after joke (all sarcastic stuff, actually), giggle after giggle. Sometimes, her jokes can be hurtful, sometimes on purpose (hey) with people she likes to mess with.

Her jokes and small pranks have gotten her into trouble before and have cost her friends in the past. Oh, well, though. It doesn't really get Miyako down. As a way to relieve stress, she loves teasing people and insulting them under the guise of jokes. Not that she's really trying to be mean. And it's not like she likes making people cry or seeing people upset. It's not her fault that they can't take a small joke. D: Laughter is a big thing to her, as are social activities and her friends.

She's a social creature who loves meeting new people, if only to entertain herself for a little while. Miyako is nice, despite her joking and slight bullying. And, if she doesn't get too overly excited, she knows when to tone herself down. Miyako is very aware of there being a time, place, and person to have fun with and when she can't. It's not like she's "lol haaaaaay" 24/7. She can be very chill and laid-back, too, with a big goofy smile on, depending on her company.

Miyako hates being bored and talking to "boring" people. Liven up! That's when the jokes will kick in for her amusement. She's most interested in people with things that are unique about them - she hates clonish people because they remind her of restaurant customers. Dull people and dull places are a NO. She'll tolerate it for a little while then lose all focus.

Yeah, Miyako has a terrible time focusing on tasks on hand. She's rather scatterbrained. Her head is in the clouds most of the time, making her kind of zoney. Her mind's all over the place. She's also easy to confuse and she has trouble taking big rushes of information in.

Soooo...yeah...Miyako's a nice girl, if not a distracted one with a bad sense of humor. She would be smart - well, on some level - if it weren't for her having a million and one things running through her head at once. Miyako tries to make an effort to get along with everyone that she meets and cares little for people's social standings, only if they're fun or not. Whatever. Her hobbies include talking about how cute some of the guys in her classes are ("like omg...Horiguchi is soooo hot"), GOSSIP, spending time with friends, working at the Kitagawa restaurant, going to Yuu Aimura's parties ("Yuu's so awesome"), making fancy lunch bento stuff for people, and being the center of attention ("haha, you know it").

[STRENGTHS]:

* Quick Thinker: A lot of thoughts come into her head at once. If she grabs onto the right one, it could potentially help her in the game or kill her. Really, a hit or a miss strength.
* Keen Awareness: Miyako's naturally aware of everything going on around her, something that she picked up when she was part of her restaurant's delivery service.
* Mask: She controls the emotions that appear on her face very well, a skill she learned from the restaurant. If needed, she'll look as serious as can be, and if needed, she'll look as happy as an apple pie while dying inside.
* Light-Foot: Having participated in traditional dancing since, like, forever, she's graceful in her movements and can sneak by undetected.

[WEAKNESSES]:

* Easily Confused: Too much at once and she can't concentrate anymore.
* Thinks Too Much: Miyako's doubtful of her decisions. Should I wear the red shirt or the blue shirt? Well...if I wear red then I can't wear red on Tuesday. And I wanted to wear my new shoes today, but I can't if I wear the red shirt. Oh, maybe I should, but then the blue shirt looks so good. I should wear blue. No, red, no, blue - ahhhhhh!!
* Cynical: A cynic way deep down - she looks on the dark side before the bright side and as positive as she may want to seem - that couldn't be further from the truth. Her negative harsh side springs up in her "friendly" teasing. If she doesn't like someone all that much, she'll take to making fun of them with her "jokes" and cruel nicknames.
* Bottle It Up: She never lets on her true feelings. Miyako's a bit of a closed book when it comes to her life and real feelings. Bottling it all up has put tremendous stress on her, though she'd never let on.

Overnight Bag: Extra change of clothes, womanly products, brush and comb, lame Polaroid camera, some perfume and deodorant.

Family:
[Father] Nobuyuki Kitagawa: The main man behind the Kitagawa restaurant business. He manages the restaurant and built the business from the ground up. Nobuyuki has ran the restaurant for years and years now, turning it from a simple local noodle shack to a luxurious restaurant reminiscent of the Feudal era. All of his wealth is thanks to the restaurant business and his back breaking hardwork and focus. He does have very old, strict views when it comes to things and has a short temper that's easy to ignite.

[Mother] Midori Kitagawa: She participates in the financials when it comes to the business and oversees the menus. Midori ensures that Miyako has a lady-like upbringing and is rather controlling when it comes to Miyako's life, especially after Ayane's death. All in all, a bitter lady focused on hard work and her idea of what the "ideal" woman for a man is.

[Sister, Deceased at 16] Ayane Kitagawa: The golden child of the Kitagawa family. Everything that Nobuyuki and Midori wanted in a daughter, or so Miyako believes. Her life was ended early in an accident of some kind when Miyako was fourteen. After her untimely death, Miyako transferred from the elite school they went to together and joined [School Name]. Ayane died at the age of sixteen. Too early. Miyako's still shaken up about it.

Extra-Curricular Activities:
* Girls' Tennis [[How many girls are in Tennis?]] at the school. She's not the best on the team, but she does do fairly well. Miyako joined more for the social aspect rather than a love for the sport. Her other extra-curriculars are on a higher priority, so if there are any conflicting schedules, she'll skip practices. This really doesn't make the coach or her more focused teammates like her very much.
* At her old school, she did the High Jump in Track & Field. Not anymore, though - she just doesn't have the time.
* Flower Arrangement, at her parents' wishes. No, she's not that good at it much to her parents' annoyance. *snip* *snip* *kill* She desperately wants to get better at it, only her frustration with the whole thing kills her to death 'cause she can never keep focused on it.
* Traditional Japanese Dancing...thing. Yep, her parents make her do it. Although she isn't in love with the careful dancing style, it brings an elegance to her step that she's thankful for, and from doing it all her life, Miyako's skilled in the art form.
* Restaurant Working at the KITAGAWA RESTAURANT - She sometimes works at her family's restaurant as a waitress in a pretty little kimono or cleans dishes when she gets in trouble. Miyako worked more frequently when she was younger and she and her sister delivered food together when she was much younger (around eleven).

Chosen Subject: Literature (she has no idea why) Cooking (Home Ec)

Classroom Behavior:
"Miss Kitagawa would do much better if she put a little more focus on the lessons instead of trying to make jokes. She's seems like a bright girl; she just needs to pay more attention and do more of her classwork. If she weren't talking so much and getting sent to the office as a result of that, maybe her grades would rise. As it stands now, however, she's way too excitable around her friends."

Classroom Clique:
She's a member of the "Nice Girls" Group in the class, even though she's not all that 100% nice.
Any Memorable Moments:
* Ayane Kitagawa's Death - Her sister died two years ago. It was in the local newspapers, headlining the death of the Kitagawa Restaurant owners' daughter. Miyako doesn't like talking about it. She transferred over to this school district afterwards to make a fresher start.

Friends and Enemies:

Always under construction - talk to me if we haven't related yet!!

Mimiko Hashimoto: The de facto leader of the "Nice Girls" clique and one of Miyako's favorite people to be around. They spend a lot of time together, making it almost safe to say that they are best friends. ♥♥

Miki Honda: She likes how "hippie" and alternative Miki is. From time to time, the two talk whenever Miyako's not in too hyper of a mood, though they're not exactly friends - more like people on alright terms with one another. Miyako can't help but make jokes about Miki being soooo high. Really, there's just too many jokes that can be made about Miki's pot smoking that she can't resist laughing about her.

Seira Asagiri: So boring! Miyako gave up on talking to her a while ago.

Kenji Matsuda: Friends, they get along well together. It makes her a little uncomfortable that he and his family go to the Kitagawa restaurant. And at first, it kind of scared her. However, the longer he went there, the more Miyako started to realize just how close their "having to look like the perfect child" situations were. Sharing that understanding of one another gave Miyako a feeling of a connection to Kenji that she can't find in any one else she knows. :)

Emi Sekiyama: They're friendly with one another and Miyako likes Emi a whole lot. Sometimes, Emi's bossier side bothers Miyako a bit, but not too much that it would keep them from being friends. Besides, it's balanced out, because sometimes, Miyako's meaner jokes bother Emi, too.

Kei Aihara: Fellow member of the "Nice Girls" group, and a quiet one at that. Their friendship is mainly due to association and pretty much all thanks to Mimiko. In group settings, they are fine together, but when it's them one-on-one, things get awkward between Kei's shyness and Miyako's loudness.

Rukia Makaki (NPC): Newest addition to the "Nice Girls" group. Seems like an okay person from what Miyako has seen, but little Miyako has a problem with the fact that she's so freaking close to Mimiko so fast. For that reason, Miyako doesn't exactly like her, though, the dislike isn't obvious.

Hikari Minami (NPC): The first thing that Miyako ever noticed about this fellow "Nice Girl" were her eyes. Hikari being blind doesn't matter much to Miyako, surprisingly, it's just another interesting thing to know about her friend. She considers Hikari to be her necessary balance. It sucks that Hikari's obviously more important friendships are with Fuuka and Nobuko.

Eizo Horiguchi: Well... Miyako knows she shouldn't ever be talking to him on account of Mimiko and Kei disliking him and all, but she can't help it. She loves telling him jokes and having him laugh. Putting a smile on his usual serious looking face is one of the highlights of her day. Plus, it helps that she hates Akemi, too.

Akemi Kasai: The start of a possibly nice friendship crashed and burned before it could really take off. They started out alright with one another - Miyako would run jokes by Akemi, make her laugh, and so on - but, then one day Miyako took things too far and told her a really, really bad joke about her. In response, Akemi slapped Miyako and yeah, that incident is the reason why Miyako hates her so much. Pure hatred.

Fuuka Kuroki: Hey, Fatty McFatcakes! Psyyyyyke. Miyako picks on Fuuka a lot, always quick to say right after bullying her, "just kiddinggg, buddy." She doesn't hate her or anything. She actually even likes having Fuuka around in their Flower Arrangement classes. But, the girl is such an easy target and it's fun to watch the look her face gets when she is made fun of sometimes.

Taro Hanazawa: Good friends and someone she sees as kind of important. Miyako once broke down in front of him about her sister, which caused them to become closer friends. It was just the once and she's never talked about it again, but although she acts like she forgot all about it, she definitely hasn't and she's been thankful towards Taro ever since.

Kayo Yoshitomi: Yay, Kayo! Miyako adores Kayo. She's his own personal cheerleader and loves making him cute little lunches every day. Yeah, he's quiet, but he looks so adorable that Miyako doesn't feel like it's an issue. Friends~

Tsukiko Inoue (NPC): She's in Tennis, she likes cars, and she seems kind of serious...too serious for Miyako, anyway. Other than that, Miyako doesn't know much about her and doesn't talk to her outside of Tennis stuff and even then, it's just to say, "okay, let's start."

Nobuko Kansui (NPC): Bleurghhhhhhhh. Why do you cry so much? Miyako feels kind of bad for her, but at the same time, Nobuko's cry-about-everything attitude pisses her off.

Yuu Aimura (NPC): Yuu is one of Miyako's favorite friends, not only for the parties (they don't matter much to Miyako, actually), but for who Yuu is, if that makes any sense. Miyako just gets a feeling of "peaceful happy" from Yuu, enough so that she'll be happy, relaxed, and calm around Yuu. Still don't understand? Neither does she, but she thinks Yuu is awesome anyway!

Honami Baba: Out of everyone in the "Nice Girls" group, Honami is Miyako's closest friend. They get crazy with eachother all the time. Every second she spends with Honami, Miyako's having fun. Best friend forever!

Masakichi Baba: Her best friend's brother. She never has any real conversations with him but they're both nice to eachother because of the Honami connection.

Atsuo Katsumoto (NPC): A cute, nice guy that Miyako sees as off-limits because he once slept with Mimiko and all. She's friendly with him and likes watching him show-off soccer tricks, but she'd never pursue him.

Tatsutarou Iwamoto (NPC): Blah, shrug. Miyako never had any real interest in him, so nothing. The mood swing thing makes her slightly weary of him, but she hasn't seen any for herself so, again, shrug.

Kiba Sasakami (NPC): It's not that Miyako dislikes him, it's that he's...weird. They've never had any real conversations because of that.

Kazuhiro Tsukino: Good friends. Miyako doesn't like him telling her what to do when it comes to joking around and things like that, but she does tone it down for him. For example, whenever he's around her and Fuuka, she watches her words carefully to keep from saying anything too harsh. There is some awkwardness with their friendship, though. Her family, friends with his family (they're as successful as hers), puts pressure on her to get in some kind of relationship with Kaz. It's...awkward.

I need to organize this list better... >_<
