Why can't you knit? Did no one ever teach you? Would you...like some pointers?

I've been trying to teach myself...and I'm not very good at it. I try it just the way the book I got said, and it just doesn't come out right.

Please? I don't expect to be great at it, but I'd at least like my boyfriend to actually be able to recognize a hat I made as a hat the first time I show it to him.

Books are fine as an aid, but I think actually seeing it in practice will do wonders for you. I wouldn't mind giving you a lesson sometime.
