Summary: Tiffany dreams too much.

Tiffany Hwang was a dreamer, ambition fueling her soul.  She was first asked what she wanted to be in pre-school.  At the age of four, her answer was simple and similar to the other girls of her class-a princess.  She dreamed of riding on snow-white horses, dancing in elegant ballrooms, and singing to the birds by her bedroom window.  She dreamed of having a handsome knight in shining armor sweep her from her feet and save her from distress.  She dreamed of falling in love.

Her toddler hands diligently colored and scribbled onto a page given by the teacher. The pink crayon in her hand was dull by the time she had finished her work.  Holding the drawing up using her stout arms, she admiringly smiled at her picture. She remembers bringing the drawing home to her father that day, proud of her masterpiece despite the crude lines, and clashing colors.

When she turned thirteen Tiffany no longer wanted to be a princess (for it was too childish, she claimed), and instead a figure skater.  It was after seeing the movie Ice Princess that she envisioned herself in skates, gliding across the smooth ice in the arms of her gorgeous partner.  There was something so captivating about the way Michelle Trachtenburg skated in the movie that lured her in.  She was completely fascinated and mesmerized by the graceful twirls and intricate footworks of skaters, unlike her own coordination.

Determined to fulfill her teenage dream, she had even took ice skating lessons (much to her father’s dismay).  Her efforts were keen, and she practiced earnestly for months.  Unfortunately, by the fifth month, her instructor remarked that he saw no improvements. That was when a dejected Tiffany hung up her ice skates for good.

Then she hit sixteen, and Tiffany decided she wanted to be a singer.  She idolized BoA, and how the young girl managed to rise to fame at such a young age-merely older than Tiffany herself by three years.  She dreamed of performing onstage in Korea (perhaps even beside the infamous BoA), and the thought thrilled her.  The Korean music industry was not as renowned then, but it was something new and different.  And Tiffany Hwang never turns down a challenge. It was a rash decision to have her sister drive her to the casting audition without her father’s knowledge.  It was an even riskier act to leave California for a foreign country where she did not know anyone.  Not to mention, she wasn’t familiar with the language and culture.  Friends and relatives advised her that it probably wasn’t a wise choice, but in her gut, she knew it would be a decision she wouldn’t regret.

It was difficult for the first couple of years, but she lived through them.  By the third, Tiffany abruptly found herself completely entranced by a quite unexpected character in her life.  Now, dashing princes were not what she daydreamed about, and Michelle Trachtenburg was no longer the Ice Princess that made her unpretentious heart skip a beat.

It happened fast; the way Tiffany fell for Jessica.  Their first encounter was something memorable, with Tiffany screaming about her distaste in Korean food, and an amused yet calm Jessica watching from a distance.  It was a matter of chemistry, something the two of them both shared.  They were different in many ways, but it was their mutual defiance that drew them together (“because opposites attract,” Jessica frankly remarked).  It took Tiffany three attempts before finally confessing to the older girl, but when three long awaited words came out and Jessica forcefully pinned her down with a kiss, Tiffany knew it was the best thing she had done in a long time.

The gleaming morning sunlight seeped through the curtains of her bedroom.  Tiffany stirred beneath the white covers of her bed, awakening from a pleasant dream.  In the dream, she was dressed in an dazzling gown (like one a princess would wear) waltzing hand - in - hand with a suave unknown gentleman.  She thought it was a silly dream, because it was something that she longed for during her childhood.

“Good morning.”  Tiffany turned to her side to find a Jessica Jung, tousled hair, groggy voice and eyelids half open lying in bed beside her.  It was a Sunday morning, and both girls were still too exhausted from their recent busy schedules.  Tiffany delicately ran her fingers through Jessica's now light brunette hair.  She was glad when the older girl decided to dye her hair brown again; she had always thought the blonde made her look ditzier anyway. The half-awake Jessica pulled Tiffany in by the waist, closing off any distance between the two girls and securing her grip around Tiffany's lower hips.  Jessica gave a smug grin before placing a chaste kiss on Tiffany’s lips and spoke in a husky tone, “Happy birthday.”

Tiffany Hwang was a dreamer, one who dreamed of princesses and their prince charming.  But right now, Tiffany decided that Jessica was far better than any dream prince-she was real.
