Argh. I have The Last Werewolf sitting on my shelf as we speak, and am kind of annoyed to hear it's the beginning of a trilogy. I thought it was standalone.

I didn't mind. I liked the trilogy overall and they are quick reads. You could stop with the first one if you wanted to, though it is definitely leading into the next one.
