Half-Blood Prince

Jul 18, 2009 01:09

Said by my son midway through Half-Blood Prince. "Malfoy is always around Harry."

Even a six-year-old can see the subtext.

In short. A few quibbles aside, I really liked the film. I was pleasantly surprised. And *sigh* Harry/Draco is love.

The comments to this post on Defamer [The Homosexual Undertones of the Half-Blood Prince] are amusing me. ( Read more... )

Most of the comments are pretty funny. :P

Edit: I'm certain I'm wrong. But now on the hunt for the original source.

The manip was done by a Russian fan. I don't know his/her name but they also did the manip of Draco in the icon I'm using.

I should have just looked at the post. Someone finally credited the artist. Her name is Eneada. Here is her website http://eneadart.narod.ru/

Ah! Yep, haha, and I've seen half of her manips swimming around LJ in icons and banners. Thank you! :D

Heh your son's comment is adorable! They're obsessed with each other, and it's pretty plain to see :)

And about Dumbledore - uh, yeah, people did make that argument before JKR outed him. The description of his relationship with Grindelwald implies that it might have been a bit stronger than just friendship.

AND (without getting into a long-winded rant about this...) if, in LotR, Frodo was a girl hobbit, speculation that he and Sam were in love with each other would be EVERYWHERE. In fact, it would probably be considered actual canon - even if Sam did end up marrying someone else. It's so frustrating that straight is the default sexual orientation and so many people assume that, unless specificically stated otherwise, everyone is always 100% totally straight.

Exactly, and god forbid a fictional character might read as being gay. Because their reputation as a made-up person might be ruined or something.

Ah. People need to get over other fans having a little fun with the characters.

About the movie: saw it for the second time tonight and liked it better the second time. I wish the bathroom scene would have been drawn out more. Of course, I was hoping against all that Harry and Draco would start making out, too, so... ;-P

Hee. I like your version of the bathroom scene better. My favorite parts of the film were actually those with Rupert and Dan, although I thought Tom did an excellent job with Draco.
