Um... Hi!

I know, it's been since January since I posted. Sorry:-) I've been busy, then my computer died, and then, you know... fandom becomes a misty, watercolor memory.

But the last episode of Lost is on tonight, and that's something to celebrate.

Which brings me to my next thought. I just read this article about Kate Austin. While I agree with most of ( Read more... )

i have always liked kate and i do not understand the kate hate at all. but i hated the endless love triangle, too.

i'm hoping that juliet is jack's son's mother! she could meet sawyer at the concert and then ask him out for coffee :). the only issue is that the actress may not have been available due to her central role in v. but i really hope we'll see her tonight.

Well, V was on a long hiatus over the winter, so her role could have easily been shot then. And both shows are owned by ABC.

I think all signs point to Juliet being Jack's ex-wife:)

I hate the pattern where Kate does things that are stupid and destructive and then it's played out as poor Kate who wants to be so good but circumstances conspire against her. If they just played her as bad I'd like her a lot more. the worst of this being Kate the Wonderful Mother storyline. Blech.

Well, she does some stupid things. Trying to help Ben and Ben's dad in the 1977 timeline springs to mind, but so does Jack. I just don't get the rabid hate, the "hooray, she finally got shot" hate. It's made me avoid Lost forums like the plague.

I love Kate but hate the love triangle, too. The underlying idea that Kate can't possibly be happy without a man in her life is really annoying.

I also despise every Kate hater ever. :D

I think the triangle just overtook her character and that unleashed the shippers in fandom.

The rabid Kate hate has kept me away from most Lost forums. Like the unbridled joy that she got shot.

I don't think I hate Kate, really. I'm just disappointed by her, I guess. Especially with her backstory, I feel like there was so much more they could've done with her character, and they just didn't fucking bother.

Actually, yeah, I kind of hated her this last season, which I find pretty irritating.

I hate giving jezebel page hits, but I think that article and the article it mentions both give a reasonably good summation of fandom's Kate-related issues.

lol, your icon.

I see Kate as a wasted opportunity. She was really great when she was introduced. So capable and mysterious, because we didn't no her whole backstory. (I just rewatched the pilot a couple days ago). But then the triangle happened and her character became something of a non-started. So I get the dismay, but not the rabid hate I see in fandom.

The one Kate-centric episode this season totally bored me, so that doesn't help her cause.

I have issues with Jezebel too. heh.
