Back around the late 80s/early 90s there was a film where the opening credits had a soundtrack using some young girls chanting as they jumped rope. Does anyone remember what movie that was???
It was not Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. That I know for sure.

I know it was a kind of mystery/suspense movie. The credits at the beginning were kind of "blue" in color...like they were shaded. The little girls' voices were chanting a rhyme like you would say when jumping rope. It sounded like black girls (not to be racist). I remember Oprah saying something about it... and I had already watched the movie at the time. I just can't remember anything else about it.

Are you sure it wasn't "The Color Purple"? That had a young Whoopi Goldberg in it, as well as a younger Oprah herself. And I believe in the opening sequences, Whoopi's character and that of her sister are playing games (like the ones you described) out in the field. And it's also time appropriate, too.

I keep hearing either "The Color Purple" or perhaps "Fried Green Tomoatoes".

"One, two, Freddy's coming for you.." Ok..I know not really, but had to throw in my two cents! Color Purple started with two girls doing a hand clapping type game...ended the same way too

No... that wasn't it... though Oprah did mention it on her show when she was interviewing one of the stars.. I just can't remember who it was.
Nice to see you are still around

Yeah, The Color Purple was the first one I thought of. I thought it was done very well. The author really brought out the poignancy of the era. I read the book by Alice Walker (if I remember correctly) and I was quite taken with it even then.
