Hi
your blog entry made me laugh and remember that my own daughter Isabella used to do the same thing as you remember from your childhood. She probably still plays hide and seek by covering her eyes and thinking that she is invisible to the rest of the players. She also could not wait for us to ty to find her so she would hear the call "ready or not here I come" and she would shout out "here I am". I will have to play hide and seek with her this weekend just to see if she has progressed at all. By the way I am currently studying child development at gcc too and agree the classes should be mandatory for everyone, prospective parent or not. I also wish that there was a condensed refresher course you could take from time to time just to remind us to stop dashing around and just play with our kids and love them for who they are in the moment.

I also like Piaget interpretation of child developement. I too believe that a childs cognitive development is a continuous and gradual process. I can see it in my little cousin who I have taken care almost every sunday since she has be born. She is now 3 and I can see how she has progressed through the sensorimotor stage and now in the preoperational stage.
