I thought once we heard Cain's story about Abel, and then when Dean's killing rage just kept ramping up the more he touched the Blade, that we'd see a little Winchester blood-letting for sure. Not that I want either brother killed, especially by the other!!! But I did wonder whether the Blade would demand another fraternal sacrifice to appease its lust. Especially with Sam and Dean being descended from Cain and Abel via the Winchester bloodline.
So the muse just took off with the idea, and came back dragging this plot bunny that chased me half the night until I gave in and worked on it.
And yep, the finale was shocking! As in shock-inducing. I don't think I've said OMG out loud so many times during one episode in the whole nine seasons!!

Thank you and your awesome team for the new story. Just now I have finished the translation. What a great plot! Not that the idea itself was absolutely new to me - I saw something like that in some discussions in forums. As of 9.11 the parallel between Cain-Avel and Dean-Sam became evident. But your implementation is really amazing! It looks like some high tragedy to me. The tragedy whith a light at the end of the tunnel. I liked your reference to 2.21 and Sam-Mary scene, but my favourite part is the last lines:
"But Dean had always told him that talking was overrated anyway. So he merely tightened his grip as best he could, and let his actions say it for him".
That's true. Words might be an important thing, but eventually it all comes to an actions.
Thank you very much for another brilliant story. That would be a great final of the season!

I have passed on your thanks with much gratitude, as well as the news that we're being translated into Cyrillic again!
Ah, the Cain and Abel reference! You know, way back in season 3, I began to fear that the boys would be taken down that road. When Sam made the reference to the two ghost brothers in Red Sky At Morning when they were talking to Bella about the reason for the ghost ship appearing and the spate of drownings. I just sort of gave a shiver and the thought flashed across my mind, oh Kripke, please do NOT go there with the Winchester boys!
And then during season 5 when they found out they were descended from Cain and Abel through the Winchester line, I just about swallowed my heart again! So it was logical for my mind to just take it to that final step once Dean met Cain himself and the Mark of Cain was passed on.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, my friend.
