A Query for Web-Goers

My cousin makes really beautiful jewelry, and has a nice website where she posts pictures of all of it and takes orders and all that good stuff. I'm going to side with krues8dr on this one. MySpace is exceedingly unreliable, and frequently unreachable. She would be better off picking up a book on Web advertising, or paying someone to optimize her rank in the google search hierarchy. It's not free, but I think she'd end up happier in the long run.

Yeah, I told her I didn't like MySpace at all, which is pretty much why I'm asking you guys. What she's been doing is having quotation contests and giving away pieces to the winner, promotion style, but Ebay won't let her post contests without a monetary value and it won't let her have a contest period because it isn't bid-style. What she's looking for is a way to get her name out there. I will mention LJ to her - I think that might be her best bet. I think she's already using Google.

If she's looking for alternate selling venues, I'd recommend etsy.com; a number of people I know have had really good successes there (though it's growing quite rapidly now). If she's looking for promotion for her existing website, I'm less helpful...
