I think there's a theory circulating that they won't be policing non-torrent links. So if you're getting direct download links for a cyberlocker (like mediafire, rapidshare, etc) then you might be ok. I strongly hope this is true! Because without those downloads, fanart is going to be severely strangled

I think that's it, too. I haven't used torrents in a long time, and I generally avoid them anyway. Mediafire and random -trusted- places are usually my go-to download areas.

Fanart, fanmixes, fan EVERYTHING will be severely halted if that's the case. :(

Where's Loki when you need him? He'd rip a new one in all this mess.

I was told earlier that this might not necessarily take away the sites like Mediafire (for now). Maybe just more like policing the torrents at first. I could live with policing torrents, honestly. Those can be quite virus-ridden.

Maybe fanart, maybe not. It's just a matter of waiting and seeing now.

LJ just screws with whatever they feel like to appease the largest crowd of people.

All US Internet Service Providers have teamed up SOPA (if this isn't SOPA itself) and are going to police all downloads coming and going in individuals homes. It's a way to prevent illegal downloading of music, movies, etc.
Though, this is exactly the kind of freedom of speech this program is destroying.

AND NO MORE DOWNLOADING MERLIN! It takes almost a year and a half to get the new season over here on DVD. I can't handle that! I'm still working on downloading the last season. :'(
