I've been in a funk with my weight lately. It seems like every summer, I end up gaining a few pounds. No, it's not much, but I'm a short person and every pound counts on my frame. I don't know if it's the heat or water retention or what, but it always happens. Of course it's the time of year that I want to be able to wear shorts and capris and tank ( Read more... )

Aw, thank you! *blush* :) I know it's probably all in my mind; I just hate it when my clothes start feeling a little tighter. I never thought to try a natural diuretic, though. I could talk to the gal at the health food store and see what she has. I figured that had to be part of it because I'm constantly drinking water during the summer months, but I hate the feeling I get when I'm dehydrated, too. Just seems kind of lose-lose all the way around.

I've tried to maintain a fairly healthy weight the last few years, and it's paid off to have *some* muscle tone. I'm convinced that the extra muscle I had this winter is what kept me from getting sick this year. The flu was going around like crazy, and I never caught it. I suppose an extra pound or two is worth it in the long run if it means that I don't get any viruses. *shudder*

Hmm. I don't *usually* have an issue with salty things. But it could be a possibility, because I tend to crave salt way more than sweet stuff. Give me some potato chips over a candy bar any day. Perhaps now that I'm an old woman, my body can't handle salty stuff during the hotter days. Or something like that.

My immune system was probably the best it's ever been this year, much to my surprise. I was actually semi-expecting sickness because I felt so stressed. But I really worked out hard and built up a few pounds of muscle. I'm convinced that it made the difference.

I haven´t seen you pic in a while, but I am certain you look fab anyway. But if you DO decide to diet, please don´t start eating less, because starving is never the solution.
I think cutting carbs is the best way, you don´t have to do it very drastically, just cut back on white flour, rice, pasta and sugar of course.

As for working out, there are stuff you can do without building muscles, right? In this country we are very fond of hiking, just 30 mins 3-4 times a week is going do to wonders, I know. Just an idea ;o)

Hope it works out for you and you´ll find something to make you feel better, because that´s the most important thing. I´m sure others think you look great anyway! XXX

Aw, thank you! I like food too much to starve myself. But I could certainly afford to cut back on sugar and carbs. When I first lost weight, several years ago, I just started by cutting down on my portions. Not drastically, but I was eating three or four slices of pizza when one or two would more than suffice. That sort of thing.

I know there are exercises that help build lean muscle; I just haven't found the right ones for my body yet. I may have to try some yoga, much as I hate it. :P Because it helps stretch you as well, it builds lean muscle instead of bulking up, or so I've heard.

That's really all I want, is to feel decent. I hate it when my clothes start to feel snug. Plus I'm short, so any weight added looks like more than it really is. But we'll get there! :)
