Moa isn't here anymore. I checked for her frequency and it's not there. She was definitely sent home.

[......]

[Adding after a moment.]

I'm not making or purifying water in Spero today. I'm tired, so.

[Sunao will be hard to find for the next few hours. She's going to be curled up underneath one of the bridges in the city, and could be non- ( Read more... )

The 'Queen of Inventoryland' you mean?

[Denmark can't hear of course, but Sunao laughs under her breath, unhappily, at reading what she just texted.]

Yes.

[Punches a tree.]

Figures.

Take a break Sunao. Check with Ace, maybe he can cheer you up. Sorry about all this, eh.

Does it? I never thought it would happen. She was here for 3 years.

I will take a break, but it's ok. i won't bother Ace.

It's like they're purposely replacing people in a way that doesn't necessarily make sense.

Are you sure?

This doesn't make sense at all.

Yes. I will be ok, I just need some rest.

{Checking the frequency himself and frowning. They... after all this time they only now sent her away? But she loved a lot of people here, she'd been through so much and...

Shit. He was going to miss her a lot. That girl was like his little sister. She was Nakama. One of the last ones to have been here longer than he was.

He swallowed raggedly on the other end, not that Sunao could hear him. He fought back the emotions with logic. She was home. That was better right? She was safer there... with the people she loved and had to leave behind. Even if he was certain Moa didn't really want to leave everyone behind here either.}

She'll be alright. {It's the best he could offer. He never learned enough about what her home life was like after all. He just hoped that she was better off there.}

And we will too.

[Sunao notices Ace's frequency but no message quite yet. She waits. Meanwhile, her eyes are blurring again-- if only this wasn't true, or if she could make herself believe that Moa was coming back in a few days.

It wouldn't happen. Somehow, she just knows. And now she won't have the chance to tell Moa her feelings. Which is probably better. Somehow. Which doesn't explain the guilt or why thinking about it makes the pain worse.

None of this makes any sense to her right now.

Eventually she notices the message on her communicator.]

...i hope so. I want to think her home will make her happier.

[Moa had been so sad here lately, for various reasons. That smile of hers that Sunao loved so much had become rare, if seen at all.]

There's always something worse, even if it looks better.

[Why didn't she ask Moa more about her home then she'd know for sure. But somehow it rarely came up.

Both of them had been here for years, after all.]

[He has reached maximum capacity for people leaving at once, and as a thirteen-year-old boy he can't trust himself not to snivel at the communicator so have some really bad typing instead.]

[They're conspirators in text then. Sunao is using it for the same reason--to keep either from crying or sounding cold toward these other people. Most of them will miss her too, so that isn't fair.

She's finding it difficult to care about 'fair,' right now though.]

Yes, she did.

it should be best. Maybe. I hope she can be happier there.

...It should be a good thing.

[But just now, it doesn't feel like one. She nods absently at Luke's words though of course he can't see that.]
