Edit to add: Decline is a choice, but is it America's choice?
Part 2 of editorial above

Well, Dr. Krauthammer, clearly the will of the people has been accomplished, and their will is indeed to choose decline.

Thanks for posting this article!! I was really happy to read it cause I have a pre-existing condition (that was, luckily for me, discovered AFTER I was insured) and many of my friends were unable to get insurance because of things like asthma and diabetes.

Maybe someday we'll have a health system as good as Japan's!! I really miss Japan-level health care. It was the best health care I ever received. I hope they pass something that makes insurance companies cover preventative care cause that would save everyone (except the insurance company) a ton of money and then when my mouthpiece for bruxism breaks I won't have to pay $300 for a new one so I don't get ridiculously expensive cavities.

yes, and where will the money come to fund this new and shiny healthcare system that ignores costs, supply and demand, the basic premise of "insurance," and the nature of government entitlement spending?

I know you're trolling here, because you know me. But enjoy your delusion, it'll all seem so shiny and sweet for a while. After all, a slow fade doesn't really matter if it takes a generation, to those within it with no sense of scale. Since more likely than not you won't be leaving anyone to face the future at least as far as I've understood your stance on such things, why not let the State care for you at the expense of its viability and vitality?

If you haven't noticed, the American health care system is really weird. Like, I was charged $300 for two regular Tylenol in the hospital once. Just because. Of course, my insurance paid the hospital mere cents cause that's how much 2 Tylenol cost, but how is that fair for those who do not have insurance cause they, for example, have asthma ( ... )

it's not functionality that I'm really concerned about. it's the cost to the taxpayer, and the drain on the economy, not to mention the incredible detriment it provides to innovation in treatments, whether techniques or technologies ( ... )

"Democrats voted for the bill and a Republican voted for the bill. That equals bipartisan," Pelosi said later.

That and the picture of her smiling face on CNN.com caused me to lose all the myriad contents of my stomach to the outside world.
