The Angel of music sings songs in my head

Okay, so update, yeah?

Kumori-con this year was generally fun. I did Ariel. Lyssa from work made my costume. The only irritating thing about that is she kept procrastinating to the last minute, so that it wasn't finished until midnight the night before we left. But it got done and I'm quite happy with it.

Tasia came with us this year, which was great. It was her first Kumori-con, and I think she enjoyed it. We stayed at the con hotel, which was a first for us too. But nice. The only issue was the elevators. The people at Kumori-con were generally very nice. The only real problem I had was the way registration was set up, and the fact that on Friday, no one was really clear on what you were supposed to do.

I didn't do a whole lot in general. Just hung out, took pictures, had fun. Since I've been really into the Phoenix Wright series lately I got a lot of pictures from the Phoenix Wright photoshoot that went on. And that was probably one of the most fun moments for me. The dating game was pretty fun too. I remember I went to that my first year at S-con, but after that they stopped doing it there. So it was nice to see it again, and very funny.

(Pictures to come later)

I'm planning on going to Aki-con, a new convention starting this year in Everett. Natane's got an art table there, so that'll be neat.

So my grandma's all moved out now, which is a good thing. She was getting to the point where she would need help up and down the stairs, and the only bathrooms and bedrooms in the house are all upstairs. So while no one was home she either had to stay in her room (which she refused to do), or wait for someone to get home.

Moving her out was a bitch. It sounds horrible to say, but it was mostly that she kept post-poning it, and trying to push it back even further. Then she refused to let us help with the move. It had to be my aunt Amy and cousin Cameron who did it. HAD to be. And Amy, wanted to wait until Sept5th to do it. Which was not doable. David and mom were both taking time off of work to help her out around the house and make sure she could get up and down the stairs, and that can only happen for so long. And of course Amy couldn't be bothered to do it. Eventually my mom told her "Look, do it this weekend, or we're gonna do it. This can't continue." So she was moved out the Thursday before Labor Day weekend.

Amy's jerk of a husband also happened to tell the landlord that she was moving out, even though she hasn't given official notice yet. So the landlord's trying to decide if we can stay in the house or not. We're paying rent currently, but there is no actual lease on the house. So he can pretty much decide to kick us out whenever he wants.

Social Life
Lyssa and Michaela decided to do a Girl's Night once a month at work, which is kinda neat. Our last one was the three of us and Allison. And we hung out, drank, watched a movie, and Lyssa has a sauna at her house, so we spent some time in there, where Allison accidentally sat on the rocks and burned her ass pretty badly. But it was generally fun.

Last night we had our second. Which was just the three of us this time. There were going to be a couple of new girls from work, but one already had other plans, and the other got sick. But it was fun. We had an Asian themed night. So Lyssa dressed in her kimono, Michaela in a Chinese style dress, and I just put on a haori, and we made rice balls and chatted. Spent a couple hours in the sauna, and watched a couple episodes of the HBO series TrueBlood, which is awesome. We also played some MarioKart Wii, where I got my ass thoroughly kicked by Rainbow road.

Work
We're finally starting to get new people at work. We needed them like a month ago. I heard a rumor that the owners were trying to see how few floor staff we could get away with before the busy season kicked in. But we have about three new people up at the registers. The only problem with that is that they're all partime. So they only work 4 hours on a weekday, and usually the only weekday they work is Friday, then they work weekends. Which, granted, is when we need them the most, but we're still busy on the week nights.

I've also gotten to work back in the Xmas dept. some. Which is pretty neat. It's nothing terribly exciting, just pricing items currently. Though I got to get a tree for a couple of women the other day. That was an adventure. Also a couple weeks ago there were another couple of women who came in and spent about $4000 in our Safari Xmas theme. Cleaned us out of some of the one-of-a-kind stuff. They bought, like, a lion figure for $300 and just a ton of stuff. All to decorate their houses with.

Theater
I went and saw Phantom of the Opera last week. It was fantastic of course. Though it probably wasn't the best production of it. The chandelier crash, was a little on the blah side, it was hard to hear anybody over Carlotta, or even to pick out lyrics at all when more than three people were singing at once. But it was enjoyable none-the-less. The singing was amazing. The Phantom was wonderful. I was a little iffy on Raoul, but I'm a little iffy on Raoul in general. I don't like his character. It was overall very awesome though.
