“Just leave me the fuck alone Jack,” Ianto spoke, storming out of the Hub to his car.
Jack ran after him, “not until you tell me what the fuck is wrong!” he growled, reaching for the passenger door, yanking the door handle to find it locked, he swung his hand at the glass, making Ianto jump slightly from inside the car.
Ianto pushed the button on the door panel, automatically winding down the passenger door window just enough for Ianto’s voice to float through for Jack to hear. “Leave me alone. I’m going to my flat, I’m going home, Jack.” The window went back up, the engine started and Ianto drove off, watching Jack immediately jump back, minding his toes.
Jack let out another growl of frustration, resting his hands behind his head for a second, gathering his thoughts from the last few minutes.
###
Ianto was walking out of the door leading from the Archives to find Jack leaning over Gwen who was sitting in front of the computer screens. Jack shifted, moving closer to her, running his fingers across her shoulder blade as he looked in the computer screens, following her gaze of what was flickering across them.
Ianto stepped back, looking through the railings to see what they were looking at on the screens. Wedding pictures, wedding pictures, Gwen was discussing her wedding with him. Ianto snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Jack’s chuckle rung through the Hub. “Oh yeah, that would look great on you.” Ianto heard his say, pointing to a picture on the screen. It was now underwear.
That was enough for Ianto, he straightened his tie and, quietly made his way up the steps before coughing slightly to notify the couple of his presence. He walked straight past them, however, picked up his coat and walked out of the cog door that was already opening for him. Making an excuse that he had to go shopping, waving his hand in the air.
Jack looked up, watching Ianto’s coat curl around the closing door. He looked back at Gwen, gave a ‘what was that about’ look before turning on his heel and following Ianto’s path.
Gwen shook her head and turned back to the computer screens.
Jack ran up the stairs, hoping to catch Ianto coming out of the lift. Panting slightly, Jack reached the tunnel leading to the tourist office, and saw that Ianto had already made it into the office. Jack ran and stood in front of the entrance, hoping it would stop Ianto for a minute.
Ianto raised an eyebrow, he picked up his keys off the hook behind the counter, straightened out a few leaflets before walking towards Jack. He reached for the handle, completely ignoring Jack, and yanked it open, sending Jack reeling along the floor. “Goodbye sir.” Ianto said moving through the door and shutting it behind him.
Jack strode out of the door after him, shouting his name along the boardwalk. Ianto carried on walking, pulling his coat further across him to protect himself from the cool wind blowing from the water. Ianto turned back to Jack one more time before carrying on onto the road.
“Ianto! Why won’t you talk to me?” Jack shouted at Ianto, “what did I do? Ianto! No!”
Ianto carried on driving to his flat, not looking in his mirrors, just in case he saw that black SUV coming up behind him. He thought perhaps, that if he can’t see it, it won’t be there. He parked his car and walked straight into his flat, once again, not looking back, not looking out for Jack or the SUV, he was just getting to his flat, his home.
Jack had of course followed in the SUV, it had taken him a few minutes to find the keys for the SUV, but soon he was on his way to Ianto’s flat. Jack kept thinking over and over in his head what he had done. Ianto had been in the archives and Jack had been looking through the wedding plans with Gwen. He couldn’t understand what he was done. But Ianto was mad at him, and that would normally end in some kind of make-up sex, but that didn’t look like that was going to happen this time.
Ianto shut the door behind him, resting his body against the door for a second before moving towards the kitchen. He put the kettle on, hoping that a strong coffee might calm his feelings. As he was getting the machine set up he heard the SUV’s engine roar into the car park of the flats. Ianto peered out of the window to make sure he wasn’t just imagining it, low and behold, there was the SUV, with Jack already getting out of it. “Shit” Ianto muttered, moving away from the window, flicking off the kettle and turning off the lights in the kitchen and hallway. Well, might put Jack off the trail if he didn’t look like he was home, Ianto thought as he closed himself in the bedroom.
Jack ran up the stairs to Ianto’s flat, jumping round to the next flight using the rails. He was sure Ianto was there, but then, would that be a too easy place for him to go? Jack slowed, thinking of the other places Ianto may have gone to, his car wasn’t in his space. No, Jack shook his head and carried on up the stairs, he must be here.
Ianto slid down the bedroom door, falling with a light bump, he doesn’t do this normally, doesn’t normally hide from Jack. Ianto waited for what felt like hours, waiting to hear Jack. This thoughts went back to the Hub, something in the way that Jack was so close to Gwen, they looked together, they looked, good. Ianto was broken from his thoughts as he heard a stiff bang on the door.
In his hurry, Jack had forgotten to pick up his set of Ianto’s keys. He rapped on the door with one hand, still searching his pockets with the other. “Ianto!” Jack shouted into the door, “come on Ianto, open up!”
Ianto could hear Jack through the door, he squeezed his eyes shut, hoping, praying that Jack would just give it one more second before he started banging down the door. He hadn’t even thought of what he was going to say to Jack, how to explain the feelings, because he knew Jack wouldn’t see it his way. “Just one second more” he whispered.
Jack took a breathe, he leaned his head against the door and thought of his options, he could break the door off the hinges, ok, Ianto would not be happy, but it would get him in the flat. He rapped a bit louder on the door, disturbing the neighbours may be a problem here, but to hell with them, he wanted Ianto. “Ianto, please just open up, just talk to me at least!” he attempted one last time.
Ianto stood up, straightened his tie, it was a force of habit now, when he was anxious or if something was going wrong. He opened the bedroom door, hearing Jack’s pleads to open the door to him. Ianto could see Jack moving through the net curtain at the window, pacing in front of the door.
Out of the corner of his eye, Jack saw a shadow moving through the net curtain of Ianto’s hallway, he was there. Jack pressed his face to the glass, hoping to get a better view of what Ianto was doing. He was just standing there, like a deer in headlamps, standing, waiting for Jack to do something more. “Ianto, I can see you, please, can you just,” he paused, sighing as he saw Ianto move closer to the window, “please can you just let me in. We can work this out.”
Ianto moved quickly towards the door, sensing Jack’s eyes following his every action. He put the latch on the door and opened it as far as the chain would go. “Yes, Jack?” he asked, watching Jack move close to the doorframe. Changing his stance, Ianto leaned against the doorframe.
“Ianto, please, just explain what I did, then I’ll go if you don’t want me to stay.” Jack begged, moving closer to Ianto, reaching with his hand to hold Ianto’s. He felt the flinch of Ianto’s hand as it swung away from Jack’s. Jack looked down at his hand and pulled back before catching Ianto’s eye.
“Why aren’t you with Gwen?” Ianto forced himself to say, he could have just stood there and watched Jack. Ianto shifted again, pushing himself off the doorframe so that he could stand in front of Jack fully.
“Is that what this is about?” Jack huffed slightly, putting his hand up to his face, “I was just helping her chose a few things, it didn’t mean anything, I bet she didn’t even listen to me.”
“Well it seemed a little more than that from what I saw.” Ianto retorted, he knew Jack wouldn’t see it as anything more, he didn’t even know why he started this.
“Ianto, it was just,” Jack laughed slightly, “just wedding plans, Gwen’s wedding plans, for her and Rhys.”
“I knew you would take this seriously, Jack, you were all-fucking-over her!”
“Ianto, I’m sorry, I..” Jack trailed off, moving closer to Ianto through the gap in the doorway, “it didn’t mean anything.”
Ianto pushed him out of the doorway and shut the door, took a deep breathe, then took the chain off the door, pulling it back open and getting back to making his coffee. Ianto didn’t normally admit defeat, but he got Jack to apologise on a matter that, to be fair, Ianto had taken out of proportion. Ianto thought about it for a second longer, Jack was his and even though he wasn’t normally so jealous, the way Gwen manages to wrap him around her little finger every time she was around, was getting to him.
Jack was about to walk away as Ianto closed the door on him, he stayed a second longer hoping to hear the door to be re-opened, it did. Jack strode in to see Ianto disappear into the kitchen. Shutting the door behind him, he followed Ianto and watched as he put on the kettle. “Do I get a mug?” Ianto glanced at him, and Jack watched him get another mug and placed it on the counter next to his own.
“I’m sorry,” Ianto started, “for walking out of the Hub like that, I over-reacted.” he didn’t turn to Jack, his eyes were boring into the back of his head and knew it would only feel worse if he took his eyes of the kettle and at Jack.
“I understand how it looked Ianto,” Jack took off his great coat and placed it on the convenient hook in the hallway. He then walked towards Ianto’s back, placing his hands on the younger man’s hips, “I’m yours, and you know that.” Jack whispered into his ear, noticing the small shiver that racked through Ianto’s body.
Ianto regained his senses enough to notice the kettle had finished boiling, but that didn’t seem to matter, Jack was behind him, holding him, that’s all that matters. He turned his head slightly to see Jack’s face. “All mine.” He spoke, kissing Jack gently on the lips, taking his hands off the counter to hold Jack’s onto his hips.
“All yours, forever, Ianto Jones.” Jack whispered again.

“Gwen, Owen, I need you to get up here right now!” Jack barked into his phone, running up to Ianto’s car. He stood for a second as he got to the car, it was completely smashed on the driver’s side. Ianto lay still in the driver’s seat, blood was slowly dripping from the harsh cuts on his forehead and cheek. Jack faintly heard Gwen’s boot-steps coming up behind him. He took another step forward and attempted to open the door that was pinning Ianto in the car.
“Oh my God, Jack, what happened!” Gwen shouted, panicked, stunned at the scene in front of her. She ran over to the other car, the driver was just staring at what had just happened. He got out as he noticed Gwen, “what happened!?” Gwen shouted at him, watching him as he shook his head, “he was pulled out, I couldn’t stop. There was nothing I could do!”
Gwen looked back at Jack, then at Owen who was currently on the phone to who she guessed as the ambulance crew, helping Jack get the door out of the way so that he could get a closer look at Ianto.

“Ianto?” Owen moved closer to Ianto’s bedside, “Ianto mate, can you hear me, can you open your eyes for me?” he watched as Ianto slowly opened his eyes, blinking at the harsh lighting.
“What?” Ianto asked wearily, “Jack?” he tried to sit up, feeling a sudden rush in his head, he flopped back down onto the pillow, groaning. He turned his head to see Owen, Toshiko and Gwen standing around the clinical white room.
“Jack’s not here right now, do you know where you are?” Gwen asked, moving to hold Ianto’s hand.
“I’m guessing a hospital. What happened? I was…” Ianto managed, looking around him again, feeling the wires around him and the dull bleep of the monitors next to his head.
“You were in a car accident, sweetie, a few hours ago now, you’ve only just come round. The doctor’s say you are going to be ok, but you’ve broken your arm and a couple of your ribs.” Gwen told him, squeezing his hand, watching as Ianto looked at his other arm in a cast.
“You were lucky, an accident like that could have caused some internal bleeding, you got off lightly, teaboy.” Owen continued, watching the monitors again.
Toshiko knelt on the side of the bed, “I bought you some grapes, for when you’re feeling a bit better, there’s a couple of magazines there too, but the doctor’s say you should be able to leave soon if you feel like it, if not, you can stay the night.”
“Thank you, Tosh.” Ianto smiled at her, “where’s Jack?” he asked again, looking around at the faces of the others.
“He’ll be here soon, he’s just finishing at the police station.” Tosh answered, smiling back at him.
Ianto closed his eyes again, he felt the others move away from him, letting him sleep.

“Today really made me think, about how your life could be over so soon. How any second could be your last while I go on. I don‘t know how I would move on without you. I know I‘ve taken it slow, hoping that I can make this last for longer, but I forget that you don‘t have longer. Your time could have been up today and I never told you how I want to be yours. Even since I came back from the year that never was, I‘ve been wanting to tell you. I‘ve never found the right way to say it. I just carry on, and every time we go out together or just spend the night in bed, I want to tell you. I just couldn‘t do it. Until now. I want to be yours. All yours, forever, Ianto Jones.” Jack whispered, he didn’t know if Ianto could hear him, it had been another long amount of hours since Ianto had been awake for the others, and Jack didn’t know if he was going to wake up again. Jack sat next to Ianto on the bed, hoping his words were being hear by Ianto.
“Jack?” Ianto spoke, hoarsely, looking at the older man through, blinking at him, trying to catch some focus.
“Ianto, thank God, are you feeling ok? Owen said you were ok earlier, but that was hours ago now, do you need the nurse to make sure?” Jack climbed off the bed so that he could see Ianto’s face fully, holding his good hand.
“Jack, I’m fine.” Ianto said again, smiling, “lay down with me?” he asked, attempting to shift slightly on the bed and groaning again as he felt a flash of pain from his chest.
“Don’t move, I can fit, I’m here for you Ianto, always be here for you.” Jack laid down next to him, holding Ianto’s hand tightly as he fell back to sleep.
