John's mother has decided to evacuate to Fort Worth ahead of Hurricane Gustav. Instead of putting her up here, with her smoking and the cat that doesn't get along with Gypsy, she'll be staying at the nearby Motel 6. Hopefully (for many many reasons) the visit will be a short one.

I like her, but I'm not a big fan of houseguests in general, and smoking houseguests in particular. But we would have been happy to accommodate her if necessary.

It should. Current forecasts have the storm striking well east of Southeast Texas, so the impact in the Beaumont region should be minimal. I'd be surprised if she's still in town Wednesday night.

Heh...John's mom is tolerant, but I don't think she's that tolerant. Besides, she wanted to be close by, and the two bathhouses I know about are in Dallas, about an hour away.
