Seven Years Ago and 48 Hours From Now

I've written a lot about what happened on that beautiful morning on this date over the years. This year, I'm going to let David Letterman and Jon Stewart speak for me, in their opening monologues during their first shows back.

Good luck with having her at your place. :/

I have no desire to experience a hurricane. I like a nice breeze and rainy days, but wind and rain together can suck.

We got her the guest apartment that our complex maintains. So she's not actually staying with us...at least for now. However, I'm still optimistic she'll be able to go home by mid-week.

I have no desire to experience a hurricane, either. I was staying at my parents when Rita roared through three years ago, but the aftermath once I got back to my apartment really sucked. Nightly curfews, places seemingly open or closed at random, and other fun stuff. I think it was Thanksgiving before the local Wal-Mart went back to 24 hours.

It's good that she'll be away from the risky zone, but hopefully it will be spared.

His mom talked to her sister-in-law, who lives next door and didn't evacuate, earlier today, and it appears that everything is OK. However, the storm hasn't completely moved through, so it's still too early to tell for sure.
