I don't think anyone likes going to the doctor. But I think those of who are overweight especially dread it, because we'll be nagged about losing weight. As if we don't already know that.

I didn't go to the doctor (other than when I was in the hospital and follow-up visits) for 7 years because of my weight. When I went in 2001, they told me I was overweight. I then proceeded to gain even more weight. I wasn't planning on going back until I was below my 2001 weight, but the bad cold I had last February prompted me to go ahead and make an appointment. They actually didn't say a word about my weight, so I think I'm going to start going annually again. But yeah, I want to lose some before my next check-up.
Yeah, Rolling Stone has always been pretty leftist, which isn't really all that surprising, considering that rock musicians tend to be much more liberal than conservative. I have no idea if they've always been as far left as they are now, or if they've shifted because of Bush.
