For some odd reason, this year's batch of Christmas commercials didn't really bug me too much. Maybe there were fewer of them or maybe they were just less annoying this year. It also helped that some of them had eye candy. The Big Lots ads were pretty lame, but the young chorus guy was pretty cute, for example.

Your analysis and criticism are sooo right on. This is why you should still be writing! However I hate to break it to you, but you are wrong on the Lexus ad. It's not your fault, only the girls really get it.
I have a whole theory about girls who like horses, but I will spare you. I'll just sum it up with 80% of little girls want a pony growing up, no matter how impractical it is. (I never wanted one though, it might have something to do with the fact that I actually rode them.)
And the guy in the Big Lots ad looks like Andy Samberg.

Lexus is evil, and that Staples ad is awesome.

Yes. Yes he is (both the Big Lots guy and Any Samberg).

I wouldn't mind owning a Lexus, but it's pretty damn ballsy to suggest you buy one as a Christmas gift. The all-time worst Lexus ad, from several years ago, had a couple of yuppie parents telling their teenage daughter "We bought you a new CD player", then pulling back the curtain to show said CD player was surrounded by a Lexus. That one really made me want to puke.

I think they only ran that Staples ad for a year or two. It's a shame, because it's unbelievably awesome. Weeping, weeping.

Oh, I know that little girls like ponies (there was even a Simpsons episode about that), but still...I don't know. I'll defer to you being a girl. At least you agree with me about the other commercials.

I think you're overanalyzing things again. I've seen two of the three, but most commercials annoy me anyway. Christmas or otherwise, since they're all so over played.

I don't watch too many commercials these days (thanks to having three DVRs), but for some reason, I've seen all three multiple times. I'd post good Christmas commercials, but can't think of any new ones from this year.

Heh...someone is going though my old entries!

Yeah, I'm sort of surprised, since the ad is several years old and had been up for a while. My guess is the guy who posted it got his entire account pulled for some reason or another.

While it no longer appears to be on YouTube, luckily it hasn't completely disappeared from the Internet.
