I'm stuck at home when I should be off somewhere exotic, so let's do a meme, flist! Ganked from hiddencait.

Give me a trope & I’ll tell you my thoughts on the trope you’ve asked me about and if I’ve written it myself, or if I ever wouldGenderswap ( Read more... )

I am racking my brain to think about whether I've ever actually written it because not gonna lie, when I was sixteen I definitely had a plot bunny for it, and I did think it was a cool trope, but I can't actually remember if I did or not. And because I deleted so many fics I can honestly just say I don't know. But. Erm. It does sound likely. OH! Maybe it was a (AWFUL! HIDEOUS! WHO LETS TWELVE YEAR OLDS ON THE INTERNET??!!) stargate sg-1 fic, but it was enforced truth telling with no dare option. So I've HALF done the trope?

It's a trope that can be pulled off to good affect, especially if it's paired with shipping (has there been gen truth or dare fics? if so, it'll be because of tension, or there's a secret to be revealed - so how do you do that without the truth or dare seeming really contrived? Hmmm) but I don't think it's always pulled off well. I think the trouble with the trope is because you tend to be younger when you love the trope a lot, then the fics that have it tend to be... less nuanced. NOT ALL, but... a lot of them. ( ... )

You picked probably the one trope on the list that I'd be least comfortable writing! I don't think I've ever written a historical AU. It's in the same nerve-set as writing for comics, which tend to have uncomfortable levels of canon and copious numbers of people ready to correct you, but even worse because there are MILLIONS OF HISTORY NERDS who know ALL OF THE THINGS and know MORE OF THE THINGS than I do. There is literally no period of history that I would feel comfortable writing, because I really just don't think I could fake it.

Which actually really sucks ass, because I have such a killer idea for a time travel original novel, but it requires SO MUCH HISTORY KNOWLEDGE I just don't think I could pull it off convincingly enough. I'm not cool enough to be a proper history nerd. D ( ... )

This is just the bestest trope and I want to write and read it for all of the fandoms and all of the ships. Forced closeness! Forced snuggling! Forced intimacy! Figuring out that they fit together in all of the ways! \o/ \o/ I've not written it in nearly enough fandoms yet.

Yeah, I'm a bit behind but I love meeemmeees *catches up frantically on ALL OF THE THINGS*

I love wingfic, I like the trope where wings are sensitive and an extra sense organ (maybe because the love interest of the story touching the wings can give elements of first time even to an established pairing, and first time fics are always the first fics in a ship I will look for) and flying would be freaking amazing. Plus I love secrets being hidden, and wings being hidden are always awesome, because bam, here are my wings, awesome secret reveal moment.

I wrote a segment of a wingfic (which you read, thank you ♥) and one day I will do a 50k wingfic adventure because it needs to be done. \o/
