I've seen exactly 3/4 of an episode* of this show, so I'm not sure I can accurately be discussing this, but here goes...

I will agree with you on 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and mostly 1.

10- I've never been interested in Louisiana, so I'd honestly pick Forks.

8- I just don't really understand what this means & it sounds kinda gross to me.

2- This is a whole 'nother issue for me (& a long explanation at that), but basically I agreed with Bella's decision & I also feel she wound up sacrificing nothing, so it's kinda moot. *shrug*

1- I know nothing about Sookie, so no judgments on her, but I do understand some of Bella's weakness. Of course, her whining & dullness are something else, & make me want to smack her. :)

*The 3/4 of an episode I did see really put me off. But since everyone I know who has seen it likes it, I feel I should give it another chance, probably starting at the beginning...

Also, please don't think I'm ragging on you/the show- I just find the discussion of such things interesting :)

Which episode did you see? I can understand a LOT of scenes being off-putting if you're coming to them cold. Not to mention this is NOT a show if you can't stand graphic violence or sex.
Ok, more sex than violence, which for once is all right with me (I complained about "Summer of Sam," which was about the Son of Sam killings, because it had too much sex and not enough violence).

I'm not sure, but since I know exactly what day it was (either Oct 25 or 26), I'm thinking either ep. 6 or 7. Whichever one involved Sookie baby-sitting & the mother of the kids being freaked b/c Bill was there.

Honestly, I think it was either the lore or the acting that put me off. And, though Melissa seems quite enamored with them ;-), possibly the Southern accents- though I seem to now use "y'all" quite frequently...

But again, I'm willing to give the series another shot, I just kinda wrote it off after the bit I saw.

Ook don't judge by that scene. I think the kids' mom is one of the weaker characters. Do give it a try from the beginning.

You remember exact date because of wedding or honeymoon? :)

Oh I didn't mean to forget the side characters. I do love them. I heart Tara's snark, Rene is so cute and fun, Gram always makes me laugh with what she says and does, I like Sam too and the brother. Hell I love them all. :)

Have you seen a certain sex scene? If you have, you'll know what I'm talking about, if not, you'll know it when you see it.
My word! I've just seen the sex scene and I think I'm going to go back and watch it again. And then maybe again one more time. Damn! I think that's the hottest sex scene I've ever seen before in my life. Damn!

HBO has some absolutely gorgeous credits. My favorites in order are 1) Carnivale, 2) True Blood, 3) Rome, 4) Sopranos.

Her's Carnivale (it's set in 1930's dust bowl)

And here's Rome:
