I'm from Racine, Wisconsin. Home of the World's Best Prom. Honest, people!

I KNOW fabulous writers of the Mighty Flist are writing books about Prom. You need to come to ours, it's next Saturday.

Started in 1953 after a prom night alcohol related fatal car crash, the Rotarians of Racine created a safe post prom experience for Racine students.

It really is! And the Rotarians all wear tuxes and help kids out of their cars. Oh, and everyone gets a photo from one of those set up backdrops, depending on the year's theme.

The movie came about when some Racine kids went off to college and were comparing Prom experience stories. They were surprised everyone didn't celebrate prom like this. So they made a documentary.

It's way fun. My dad drove us in his 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible, with suicide doors. My daughter was going to have it for her prom, but it was raining and the top didn't go up any more!

Sounds fantastic, MJ. Are you going? Chaperoning?

I'd love to go but will probably have to settle for watching it on TV.
I could chaperone now that all of my children have graduated from St. Catherine's. I had to be careful before, so I didn't step on their delicate little toesies. Last year our youngest, Brennan, went. My mom graduated from St. Cat's in 1954, so she got to go to the second one they held.

It is really something to see. The Rotarians are so awesome! Many of them work eight hours for set up, then go home, shower and put on a tux. I love those guys!

And there are no problems! There are often city rivalry issues during basketball season, but at Prom, nothing. Maybe because no one is worried about wearing school colors? Really, they are all so excited to be there, it doesn't happen. It's like the local rite of passage. "We all made it through high school so let's party!"
