WWMLED? What Would Madeleine L'Engle Do?

I'm using advice Madeleine L'Engle gave me. Personally.

You know those battered copies of her books like A WRINKLE IN TIME and/or A RING OF ENDLESS LIGHT that are falling apart and should be replaced? My copies can't be replaced because:

I love this! I am Madeleine L'Engle's granddaughter, and also a writer. Rebecca Stead sent me a link to you, thinking of me. I'm so glad that you are getting back to your manuscript! And I am always so moved when I hear that people are writing because of my Gran - we were extremely close. I too am in the middle of a revision, and think of her always for energy and inspiration. My first novel is coming out in December - it's called EDGES. Although she was never able to read it, I know her spirit is with me, as it is with all of us who hold her in our hearts. Write on!

WHOA! I'm totally marking this as 'coolest ever reply to a post'!

I checked out your blog and can't wait to pick up a copy of EDGES. I was excited to see it's being published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, the publisher of so many of your grandmother's books.

I'll totally tweet and Facebook the debut of EDGES :-)

WOW! What wonderful advice and amazing memories! I've been out of the LJ loop for awhile, but I'm dropping in on everyone. This is so inspirational! Thanks so much for sharing this and the fabulous pics. I hope her advice helped you finish that MS?

And yet, it seems to be working! I learned a lot about the characters while writing the first draft. This way, rather than re-write everything they say, I give them opportunities to have brand new conversations and adventures. :-)
