Well, it looks like my car is fixed, with any luck. Apparently the leak was coming from a loose clamp on the top radiator hose, so that's been tightened up and the coolant refilled. Except because of the amount of coolant over the radiator due to the leak, they're not entirely sure that there isn't also a leak in the radiator. However, the repairs ( Read more... )

Well, Wagga's a big(ish) place. There's twenty million other car places I can go to, if need be. Silly them for not realising that. Arg, rip-off mechanics. I guess they're global :/

Yeah, that kind of thing at the car repair places really burns my biscuits, although thankfully I've only encountered it a few times. Hopefully your car's all fixed up *crosses fingers*

Well, it's the first time I've ever had to take the car to be repaired without my dad there, so yeah. Maybe when I get older they'll think I'm less likely to believe their bullshit? Hrg.

A lot of repair places do that if they think they can get away with it, one time, a big chain repair shop charged dad like 500$ to replace a tube and it turned out that wasn't even the problem.

Oh gawd yes. One time, we had this leak in the gearbox, and one place back home (the mob we went to before our current mechanic) tried and failed to find the problem on three seperate occasions - and still charged us for the manpower :/ We kind of switched right after that.
