Molly the cat is in love with William, the fish. William the Betta fish was my present from a student on Teacher Appreciation Day. Fishy Wil had to come home today, the last day of school. He now resides in a tank in the kitchen. I bought a tank that I sincerely hope is kitty-proof. We'll see. Molly is spending too much time on the kitchen ( Read more... )

Well, you can do what I did with my cat and try to convince him the fish doesn't exist. It did not work all that well.

You are nice to buy that little fishy a nice big tank. Anything bigger than a shot glass seems big to a Betta, but in nature they live in - well - in something big, like a pond or lake or whatever. So you are being very sweet to William the Fish. By the way, is he a Betta as opposed to being a VHS? ho ho. okay I'll hush. see you tomorrow!

Hmmm.... that was along my line of thinking. A Betta fish can live in a tiny glass of water...but a human can live in a tiny cage, too. Neither seems humane to me...unless the person was very, very bad.

We had a Betta once. I got a weird fish bowl that was flat on one side and it could be hung on the wall like a picture. It was cool above our sink when we had no window there. That might get it further out of kitty way. I am sure I must have gotten it at Petco. Betta fish are beautiful, did you name it? Or your student? What color?
