We need to move to a cheaper apartment. I'm not making enough money after paying daycare to justify working. The thought of leaving her with someone else for 50 hours a week is killing me as it is.

So maybe you should take a few years off? Then instead of breaking even, you won't have to be torchured by daycare? Or tutor? Is that an option?

That is pretty much what I've been thinking. We need a place to live that we can afford with just Wil's salary for it to work. I can definitely tutor, but I'd like to have the necessary living expenses covered by Wil's income. My tutoring money could be used for extras (eating out, etc) and/or paying off debt faster.

According to the wikipedia article, it's known for having a higher than average cancer rate.

It's one heck of a long way from where either of you works. what's up?
Steve & Masako lived closer to the city & it still took Steve two hours on the train one way to get into Boston.

It's a 50 minute train ride for Wil to get to work from there, and the rents and house prices are much, much less than where we live. We need to move to a less expensive apartment. I am only going to clear $113 a week after paying daycare, and I see no sense in putting Katie in daycare 50 hours a week to make next to nothing. (and the $113 is without factoring in gas, teaching supplies, and the necessary work clothes) I can tutor from home a few hours a week and make more money than that, even if I hire a teenager to watch Katie while I tutor. Oh, and we have to pay taxes on all the income going to the daycare lady--and it is pushing us into a higher tax bracket.

Oh, and it already takes Wil 50 minutes one-way to work from our current residence.

You are so good at looking at all the pros & cons, Melissa. John & I were talkig about all this yesterday & we both agree with you that working outside the home for so little recompense while putting a tiny baby in the care of others & in an environment where she can get sick from other little ones, just isn't worth the price you must pay. If you can stay home & be the mommy who tutors while Katie is able to sleep in her own bed & be with her own mommy, I think that's the best of the best.

Have you been to Attleboro to look around?
