This is the third and last book of Vinge's ZONES OF THOUGHT SERIES and I'd like to talk about the series part of it first. The first, A Fire Upon the Deep, was published in 1992; the second, A Deepness in the Sky, was published in 1999; and The Children of the Sky was published in 2011. Is it the last of the series? It certainly felt to me like there needs to be at least one more.

The information from the SFBC was that it was the last. I agree that a fourth might finish it off, but then the second really would seem odd.

I read it and enjoyed it well enough, but it felt like volume two of a trilogy.

Yeah, that's what David said. Did you read the first two before this one? I did, and while I think a fourth might be better, I'm not sure it would really make the series work.

Yes, I've read the other two & enjoyed them more than this one.

With this one, it's feels like it has turned into an open-ended series; the first two read like stand-alone novels in the same universe. And I am not entirely sure this is a good thing.
