First of all, I wanted to say YIPPPEEE!!!!! that the man got his head out of his ass and it seems to be staying out. :) That makes me VERY happy since I have worried alot about that.
Second, I know what a strong woman you are, and how much you have overcome, and I know you will find your way with the hearing issue. I have a friend that has lost her hearing twice, and is a deaf advocate for women of domestic abuse for the whole state of Iowa. Her Lj name is eyes_of_cyrene and if you want to talk, she would be a great person and is open to answering questions and she has been there. Her name is Gretchen.
I asked her about your situation, and she said if you are already seeing specialists, that the thing now is to wait to see what the extent of the damage is, and then see if implants would be a feasible solution, as early on they can work miracles. If you are interested, I can get her email if you want a sounding board and you aren't alone in this.
Thank you for keeping your crappy snow in Canada. I like it warm down here. :)
As for the hearing thing, Gail's probably said the most rational stuff I can think of. Honestly, I'm stunned. I -live- by my hearing so the thought of going deaf scares me shitless. I have nothing to say except *big hugs*
I thought about you today. There is actually you, and another person on my f list going deaf. Today I went to pick up some pictures I had developed, and the woman helping me was hearing impared. I think she must have been new at the position or something. She kept asking me, basically, the same question over and over. WEll I have been a complete emotional WRECK from dealing with B being home all day, and his horrible satan bastard of a child that he calls a son. Anyway, my eyes started to tear up. She immediately apologized and called her manager over. She thought I was mad at her! Of course, that made me full on cry. I told the manager I was just stressed out, and that there was nothing wrong with the other ladies service. So, all in all, you managed to embarass me in public while in a whole other country. Good job Miranda! Add that one to your record books!
