How much do I love this episode, let me count the ways...
(1) Just when you think the island adventure of theirs is as cool as it gets... they find the waterfall!! (And all that swimming and wild water fun that ensued was just peachy! Except for the dead bodies, of course.)
(2) "High velocity impact... Physics, my ass!" (Why does Sawyer get all the best lines?)
(3) NOW that odd pained expression Kate made in the pilot when Jack made the banana leaf airplane model makes a bit more sense.
(4) Shannon and Boone definitely have a weird relationship. At first I thought it was just the standard dysfunctionality that comes with their social genre, but it seems like there is a much more bizarre dynamic going on there. And was that me, or does Boone seem to have a non-platonic interest in his sister? (Makes me laugh now when I see your "I wanna marry mah sister" icon,
naewinter.) How many of you now think that he's badgering her out of a secret yearning for her love -- that sounds distubringly familiar to a terrible Judith Krantz mini-series in which Rupert Everett shot himself (when his sister refused him as a suitor)... er... Princess Daisy was it? I'm embarrassed to say that that rings a bell.
(5) Sayid! His facial expressions are just PERFECT. Like the one he followed up after he repeats after Shannon: "You knew... a guy." Hmm... "You know they say that's the best way to learn a foreign language..." (Makes you wonder how he perfected his English.)
(6) Locke and Boone sneaking off into the jungle. What on earth is going on out there???
(7) Rose and Charlie: Awwwwwwwwww!
(8) And Shannon singing Charles Trenet's "La Mer". Cute.
(9) I'm starting to think that between the two of them, I'd trust Sawyer over Kate any day and twice on Sunday.
and a last thought...
(10) Is it just me, or does Kate save her more vulgar comments only for Sawyer? Because that's what it looks like to me.
ETA: (11) I also meant to say that I think La Mer might actually be a clue or a set of clues to a little "treasure" map, however loosely you care to define "treasure". It might have something to do with
(a) what's under the water alongside the island (wherever that cable that Sayid found leads to away from shore); and/or
(b) why the tide is rising abnormally and what's causing the freakish weather cycles that invite ship(or sub)wrecks and airplane crashes.
