In no particular order:
(1) I wonder what all those whispering voices are saying. Are they all the voices of the dead coming to haunt them? Or possibly the reverse, a la The Others?
(2) And you *knew* [JAMES!!] wasn't going to say anything to Jack because he's perfectly flawed! (And Kate still insists on shadowing him and not Jack... So... I guess... whatever may be said of her, at least we can agree with her on that -- not that there's anything wrong with Jack, of course.

On the other hand, the smarter girl would only be doing it for access to a decent shaving razor and some shower gel.)
