Best Wishes and Be Safe to all of our friends in London

I'm really having trouble taking it all in, and I'm thousands of miles away. Please let us know that you are alright. We have been so disconnected from the news because we were driving down to Dallas, that this has all come as quite a surprise.

I posted after last night's disorder, which included Walthamstow amongst other places. Unless your London friends live *over* or *very near* shops, you probably should not worry about them.

We're fine -- we're nowhere near any shops.

It's come as a shock to most of us, though the gang culture has been flourishing in London for a while. None of my flist seems to have been affected (because, I think, none of us live over shops.)

Nothing happening in my area, thank Cthulhu, it's mostly places like Tottenham.

Spoke too soon - apparently there was a lot of window smashing and looting along Bishops Bridge Road and Queensway, which is a few hundred yards away, but I only heard about it after I'd left home this morning and I've been off-line all day.

There was some noise around eleven last night, and my bike alarm went off and when I looked outside someone ran off from the front garden, but I'd assumed it was just the usual drunks etc. and someone thinking he could take a pee in the garden. But my guess now is that it was someone running from the police, who ran off because he thought the alarm would attract attention.

One of my friends posted on her FB page that the resturant she works in was looted and then burnt out last night. The owner is hoping to re-open if the the insurance pays out. But until then she has lost her job.
