I'm so jealous of your library nook! It's cozy looking. The chair, the globe and the camel saddle (never seen one of those before!) all fit nicely with the shelves of books. Some day I want a mini library, complete with tall shelves on which I'd alphabetize and categorize my books, DVDs and CDs. I ♥ alphabetizing things.
The scenery looks so rich there in Maryland. I'm glad you're enjoying Baltimore and exploring its environs with Ryan. :)
Small groups of alphabetizing is a good idea. You could do nonfiction, reference, classic literature, young adult (e.g., Harry Potter!), hobbies & crafts. (Haha, you can totally tell I used to work in a library.)
Fall is a wonderful time for nature's colors. I can't wait to see them on your journal in the coming months!
Nice pictures! I like having the quiet area with the big chair to read and read and read. Maybe a small stereo for ambient music to drown out any noise from outside the room, and you have your very own reading cocoon. That spinning wheel reminds me of all those history books and Martha Washington sewing together one of the early American flags. Maybe you can make a flag of Poki and hang it outside your top floor window... Oh, and I like to go roving, too...

haha! both rovings are good.
I like having a little spot for reading, we also have our wii and tv and vcr on this same floor. And we have a Hawaii flag out front flying proudly. ;)
I LOVE the idea of a library....and wish that we could have one ourselves! Will have to look into the idea of remodeling a part of the house but if it could even be a cozy nook like yours, I'll be ecstatic! ~rowena~
I've always wished for a big room devoted to nothing but reading, while I have to settle for a corner of a room, I'm still so excited. The idea of having all those books in one place without cardboard boxes being involved is thrilling!
That spinning wheel is lovely, and I love your book nook, too. We brought home a lot of books from my mom's house, and now I have to try find space for them. I dream of a library where you have those rolling ladders reaching 'way up. Except I wouldn't want to climb the ladders!
So how about just a small bedroom-sized library? With a spinning wheel and traditional Hawaiian mele playing... ahh....
Thanks! Ikea had some of those ladders and I was so tempted, but we really need higher ceilings. Ah, yes, I miss being able to turn on the radio and find several hawaiian music stations. Gotta break out the CDs...

Wow, Emily! I LOVE your library nook. It's so cozy & inviting & makes me want to swing by to curl up with a good book & some coffee! :) Great job and awesome Craigs list finds. I've never found COOL things like that great globe & chair! :) Well done! Hope you're settling in. I'm still finding spots for items in our apt. that we just moved into it's a lot more difficult w/out much storage!

It's pretty, isn't it? Lots of green and I've heard lots of other colors in the fall. My blog should be in for some bright color in a couple months.

I understand about the storage, these old houses just don't have closets!
