You know- Carlotta's demise got RAGING applause every night when SRT did this show a few years back. >:D http://www.sierrarep.org/index.shtml And yeah- I loved this Erik so much - he had a sense of HUMOR that ALW's lacks. Glueing the glass to the tray? Fleas in her wigs? Oh yeah- THAT's my kind of Phantom- still a little boy at heart...
Oh yeah- very serious. Dad was forever saying how he got "Bored" of the standing ovations every night (Liar- he's as BIG a ham as they come- and Mom and I KNOW he loved every minute of it!)
The actual script for Y/K does include the chandelier, but some companies leave it out due to budget/safety issues. The script also specifies that the audience never sees Erik's face, or a very small part of it at most. I rather like this--it's better to leave things up to the audience's imagination than try to convince them a low-budget makeup job is the height of horror. :-P
Oh, thank you so much for clearing up the whole chandelier issue for me.
After watching it, I went online to read the script and it mentioned the chandelier falling, which kind of confused me since it didn't happen in this show. But I understand now, thanks.
Sounds great! Especially for a cast that young...WOW. I have always wanted to see this performed onstage, after seeing the miniseries version of it. :)
