I haven't consistently used warnings in the past, and now I feel terrible about it. I really hope my fics haven't triggered anyone and I wish I had a time machine to go back and label them all. All I can do is remember to warn in the future.
And, you know, donate to RAINN when I have the funds.
I think you warned generally for COTW, which is your fic I'm most acquainted with and IMO a general warning that an epic, multi-chapter fic is going to contain dark themes and/or violence is probably all most people are asking for. I know I was never triggered or hurt by anything you wrote when I was beta reading for you, but again, I always knew you were tackling some dark subjects.
I'm actually more triggered by the horrible things people have said in the discussion than I have ever been triggered by anything in someone's fanfic.
While I don't get triggered, there is stuff I really really don't want to read. It makes me sad and angry, and is the opposite of entertaining. I can't fathom why people can't understand that not everyone wants that.
(I did get a couple of those spam e-mails, but figured you would have the situation under control, given how many other people received them. My thought was that if you received an email about the spam from even half the people on that list, the resulting deluge would be almost as much of a pain as the virus.)
I totally understand. I think a general "dark and/or violent themes" warning can usually take care of that without spoiling anyone's story for people who want to read.
(THANK YOU!!! LOL It wasn't quite half, but yes I have had to reply to a lot of people. Thought about posting here days ago, but most of the people who contacted me (especially the ones that contact me days later) are not on LJ, so it wouldn't have helped.)
