Good luck with your decluttering. I've been doing it for over a month now, and I don't have kids, so I understand about having a long way to go. But it is so worth it and every bit you get sorted or tossed helps you feel better.
I'll get into decluttering moods now and then. I hope the mood hits me soon as I need to declutter the office and its closet, the cabinets in the library, and the hall closet. Now would be an especially good time for the hall closet as so many places are trying to collect old coats and such.
I feel like I can breathe again. I didn't realize how much anxiety all my clutter was creating. If you need inspiration or a shove in the right direction, I recommend watching Hoarders on A&E, even just once. Everyone I know who has watched it (including me) has gone on a decluttering and cleaning binge. And giving away the old coats is a great idea! I need to do that with the jackets and sweaters that don't fit me anymore.

I just started the process of decluttering my own house now that my son's moved out, but I've still got a long way to go.
