I got the word that ALL Jackson County Libraries are closing, for good, in March.

Gone. Kaput.

This saddens me greatly.

WTF??

I can't beleive that. Jesus H Christ, that's come bullshit right there. Did you know that an entire 150 mile section of the coast has only one full time state trooper? That elementary schools are being closed right and left, and teachers have to buy their own books in more rural areas? The state of the state is just getting poorer and poorer, more and more desperate. Why no sales tax? Why? Makes no sense. People would rather lose services than have lower property taxes and a flat tax of goods, they cling to an outdated concept of not paying "the man" and their own kids suffer, their own towns suffer. It's archaic.

I agree. You know I do. And for what it is worth, there was a bill that did not pass that would have steadied the libraries. STEADIED them, not upgraded them, and everyone voted against it.

WTF????

I am so alarmed at the culture of war and the disinterest in intellectual endeavors. Smacks of all dictatorships. ALL. First, get them compliant and ignorant, and then they will be yours. Scares me to death.
