Speaking of viewing people's salaries and getting depressed by that information, I do the same at my job. Yesterday I discovered that a 21-year old forklift driver employed by a fence company is making almost twice as much money per year as I am, and he just received a $2,051 Christmas bonus. He and his attractive young wife (also 21) are buying a house.

I worked a stint as a seasonal night-shift data-entry operator at the IRS for a few months once or twice, doing 10-key by touch of gazillions of 1040A's. I used to be able to make some interesting generalizations based on that (over)exposure, but it's been long enough ago that I've forgotten it all.
